ALEX Protocol Hacked Again: $8.3 Million Stolen in DeFi Attack

ALEX Protocol Offers USDC Compensation Plan to Affected Users: Is It Enough?

The Bitcoin-based DeFi platform ALEX Protocol has suffered a devastating attack, with losses amounting to $8.3 million. This is the second major hack of the platform in more than a year. The attack has raised serious concerns about the security architecture of the project.

Vulnerability in Self-Listing Logic Leads to Attack

On June 6, 2025, ALEX confirmed that the attack was caused by a vulnerability in the self-listing verification logic. The vulnerability was designed to prevent unauthorized assets from being listed, but the attacker bypassed it and subsequently stole multiple liquidity pools.

The total amount of stolen assets includes:

8.4 million STX (worth $5.69 million)

21.85 sBTC (worth $2.24 million)

149,850 USDC/USDT

2.80 WBTC (worth $287,369)

User compensation plan announced

The platform team has pledged to compensate all affected users from the ALEX Lab Foundation treasury. The compensation will be paid in USDC based on the average value of the stolen tokens between 10:00 and 14:00 UTC on June 6.

Notices and claim forms will be sent by June 8, with a deadline of June 10. Compensation is expected to be paid within seven days after the form is verified.1749476216540.png
