A political party in the UK has started accepting donations in crypto
UK Reform Party leader Nigel Farage has declared his party’s support for digital assets, revealing a new pro-crypto stance during a speech at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas.
He announced that Reform UK will now accept political donations in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, becoming the first major British party to do so.
Using crypto payments provider Radom, the party has opened its doors to digital asset donations from eligible donors — a move that sets it apart from Labour and the Conservatives, who dominate parliament but have yet to adopt a similar policy. “ We’re catching up with America ,” Farage said, addressing the crypto-savvy crowd. “ But from today, those who own Bitcoin can support us financially — as long as they meet the legal requirements .”
Farage also outlined his broader crypto ambitions in the UK. If Reform wins control in a future election, the party plans to introduce a “Crypto Assets and Digital Finance Act” to create regulatory clarity and support innovation. He even suggested creating a BTC reserve at the Bank of England and flatly rejected the idea of a central bank digital currency (CBDC).
Speaking alongside US political figures and allies of Donald Trump, Farage aligned his stance with the pro-crypto stance that is gaining traction in American conservative circles.
Although Reform UK currently has just five seats in parliament, compared to Labour’s 403 and the Conservatives’ 120, Farage hopes to tap into a growing demographic: young Britons interested in cryptocurrencies. He cites data that suggests one in four people under 30 in the UK own digital assets – around 7 million people.
Meanwhile, the ruling Labour Party has proposed a new framework to regulate crypto service providers under traditional financial standards, a sign of growing recognition of the sector’s importance but falls short of Farage’s radical approach.
