Consequently, many traders viewed it as a strong bullish bet despite Dogecoin’s ongoing volatility.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs shed $1 billion in net outflows last week, snapping a six-week inflow streak that had attracted a combined $3.4 billion and marking one of the sharpest weekly reversals in fund flows since the products launched. The turnaround reflects a deteriorating macro backdrop - hot inflation data, surging bond yields, and rapidly repriced Federal Reserve expectations - that overwhelmed the positive momentum built through April and early May.
The week opened with modest optimism.
Monday posted $27.29 million in net inflows, suggesting the prior week's macro concerns had not yet translated into sustained institutional selling.

Americans lost more than $11 billion to crypto-related fraud last year, according to an FBI report released in April — and the pressure on governments across Southeast Asia to crack down has only grown since then.

A Deadly Business
Myanmar’s military government has now responded with one of the harshest proposed laws of its kind anywhere in the world.

The Anti-Online Fraud Bill, made public Thursday, would send anyone convicted of digital currency fraud to prison for anywhere between ten years and life.

In the most serious cases, offenders could face the death penalty.

The law specifically targets operators of scam centers who cause the death of workers coerced or trafficked into committing fraud on their behalf — those individuals would be sentenced to death under the proposed legislation.

Myanmar’s parliament, the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, said it drafted the bill in response to online fraud that threatened the country’s sovereignty and stability.

Not The First Execution In The Region
Myanmar is not alone in taking a hard line. China executed 11 people in January tied to Myanmar-based scam operations, according to reports. Those operations had been responsible for trafficking Chinese nationals into forced labor inside the compounds.

The US has also stepped up its response. In April, American authorities worked alongside officials in China and Dubai to arrest more than 200 people and shut down nine scam centers.

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March directing officials to go after scam compounds and cybercrime.

This is one of several proposals aimed at liberalizing the restrictive draft law currently under review, which also includes expanding the list of greenlighted coins.

The full set of proposed changes has been sent to the Ministry of Finance by the Financial Markets Committee at the lower house of the parliament in Moscow.

They were presented by Dmitry Novikov, member of the right-wing nationalist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), the Interfax news agency reported Friday, citing a knowledgeable source.

The move comes ahead of the second reading of the bill designed to comprehensively regulate operations with crypto assets in the Russian Federation.

The legislation, which overcame its first parliamentary hurdle last month, must be adopted and enforced by July 1, 2026, at the latest.

Based on a regulatory concept announced by Russia’s conservative central bank in December, it has attracted criticism for being overly restrictive.
