The interceptions reportedly began around 11 a.m. local time on Thursday and continued until approximately 2 a.m. on Friday. Emergency response teams were dispatched to inspect drone debris and assess any potential damage on the ground.Separately, Russia's Defence Ministry announced that a total of 95 Ukrainian drones had been intercepted across several regions in central and southern Russia during a four-hour period ending at midnight. A policy note from Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck notes that H.R. 3633, the House version of the CLARITY Act, passed the House in July 2025 by a 294–134 bipartisan vote and cleared the Senate Agriculture Committee in January 2026, but has repeatedly slipped in Banking over stablecoin language. The current draft goes hard at that issue. The latest example came from Indiana, where Republican Congressman James Baird easily won his primary race with more than 60% of the vote. While Donald Trump publicly backed Baird, another major force was working behind the scenes: crypto money.
A Super PAC linked to Fairshake reportedly spent over $500,000 on media campaigns supporting Baird before Election Day. Fairshake itself is heavily funded by crypto giants like Coinbase and Ripple.
Why does the crypto industry care so much?
Because Baird has consistently supported crypto-friendly legislation, including the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act — two major bills that could shape the future of stablecoins and crypto regulation in the United States.
At the same time, Washington is becoming increasingly divided over how close politics and crypto should become. Some senators are now demanding ethics rules and stricter safeguards before supporting the legislation, especially as Trump’s relationship with the crypto industry draws more attention.
One thing is becoming clear: Crypto is no longer just influencing markets — it’s beginning to influence political power itself.
The real question is: Is this industry helping drive innovation, or is money buying influence in Washington?

Fairshake to back 5 candidates in midterm elections

Fairshake, a major cryptocurrency industry Super PAC, raised over $160 million to influence the 2024 U.S. elections by supporting pro-crypto candidates, regardless of party.

As per latest reports, Fairshake’s crypto-backed political action committees (PACs) are targeting five states to cement their influence. More than $7.2 million has been donated in support of these candidates.

This capital will fund campaigns in the media space, including radio, television, and digital ads. The two Fairshake-affiliated PACs are targeting Georgia, Alabama, Nebraska, Kentucky, and Texas.

This support comes amid a growing divide between lawmakers who support blockchain and crypto innovation and those pushing for tighter regulation. A win in these states would increase the number of lawmakers supporting crypto and other digital assets.

Coinbase’s stock has fallen more than 14.5% this year, prompting the exchange to pursue new business lines such as prediction markets and cost-cutting measures, including laying off 14% of its workforce, or about 700 employees, on Monday.

Despite the company’s earnings, CEO Brian Armstrong struck an optimistic tone on the earnings call, telling investors that “the world economy is moving on-chain, and Coinbase was built to capitalize on this transition.”

He added that over the past year, Coinbase has aimed to transition from “a primarily spot-focused crypto platform into a place where you can now trade any asset class.”

“We're in kind of this interim period where spot crypto assets were down a bit, other asset classes were up. As we diversify, these things will get balanced out, where we'll just be in a more upward channel over time,” Armstrong added
