Minnesota has become the latest state to grant banks and credit unions the legal authority to offer cryptocurrency custody services, a move that proponents say ends years of regulatory ambiguity that kept institutions on the sidelines of a market now worth trillions.

Bitfinex Whales, Moving Against the Bitcoin (BTC) Price, Made the Biggest Move in Two and a Half Years! What Does This Mean for BTC?

Bitcoin ($BTC), which rose above $82,000 last week, has been falling for five consecutive days. As the $BTC price dropped to around $77,000, Bitfinex whales made a surprise move.

Accordingly, investors on Bitfinex have increased their leveraged long positions in recent days. At this point, the volume of long positions on Bitfinex rose to 80,636 $BTC, reaching its highest level in approximately two and a half years.

Since the beginning of the year, $BTC long positions on exchanges have increased by approximately 10%, which is interpreted as a sign that large-scale investors have been consistently accumulating $BTC during market corrections. It also suggests that investors are viewing the decline as a buying opportunity.

Historically, long positions held by Bitfinex whales tend to increase when the market is trending downwards or investor sentiment is weak, and to decrease when the market is near its peaks.

In the market, this situation is interpreted as Bitfinex’s $BTC/USD long positions frequently moving in the opposite direction to Bitcoin’s price movement, and an increase in $BTC long positions could be a harbinger of a decline. Therefore, according to analysts, the current increase in Bitfinex Bitcoin long transactions warrants caution against a potential downward trend.

From a technical perspective, $BTC is currently testing critical resistance around the Real Market Average (RMA) at approximately $78,000, which is the cost floor for short-term investors. The 200-day moving average is above $81,000, presenting a significant technical level for the bulls to break through.

Top Crypto Exchange Expands Into UK With New Local Platform

European crypto exchange WhiteBIT is entering the United Kingdom (UK) market with the launch of a dedicated platform, marking a strategic push into one of the world’s most established financial hubs.
WhiteBIT Launches UK Platform
On Wednesday, WhiteBIT, the largest European cryptocurrency exchange by traffic, announced the launch of whitebit.uk, a dedicated platform to serve users in the United Kingdom.
According to the official announcement, WhiteBIT UK is designed to serve both retail users and professional market participants. Retail clients will have access to core features, including spot trading, market analytics, and instant conversion, with GBP funding available via payment cards and the Faster Payments Service (FPS).
For institutional participants, the platform offers advanced capabilities such as liquidity provision and market-making support, token listing services, Crypto-as-a-Service solutions, and API connectivity for seamless integration and digital asset management.
Additionally, UK users can access crypto lending and auto-invest features, subject to product availability, onboarding requirements, and applicable UK regulations.
The expansion marks a strategic step toward strengthening the exchange’s presence in “one of the world’s most mature and highly regulated financial markets,” and amid sustained growth in crypto adoption across the UK.
Data from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) revealed that overall awareness of digital assets remained high at 91% in 2025, while roughly 8% of UK adults reported holding crypto. The data also shows that 73% of users rely on centralized exchanges, underscoring the importance of established platforms in facilitating access to crypto markets. Notably, the UK continues to rank among the leading global markets for both crypto engagement and fintech innovation.

Even a mountain of T-bills won't save Tether and Circle from a sudden liquidity crisis, expert says
The structural composition of private stablecoins is facing heightened institutional scrutiny as regulators in European bloc countries clamp down on unauthorized digital assets, digital asset experts suggested Tuesday at the Digital Money Summit 2026 in London.
Christoph Hock, head of Tokenization and Digital Assets at Union Investment, one of Germany's largest institutional asset managers with nearly $620 billion in assets under management, highlighted that the reserve backing commonly used by Tether and Circle for their dollar-backed stablecoins behaves structurally more like a speculative fund than a true fiat peg.
"To be honest, a stablecoin, from my perspective, is not a stablecoin," Hock said.
"We discussed Tether, we discussed Circle's SUSDC, and when looking at the invested assets, for example, of Tether, they have massive holdings in gold, they have massive holdings in bitcoin."
