Syndicate integrated Stylus, the execution environment of Arbitrum, into the architecture of SyndDB, its open-source SQLite database replication system oriented toward blockchain applications, reducing
TEE attestation verification time from between 30 seconds and 3 minutes to under
one second. The project replaced a zkVM proof pipeline with a Rust smart contract compiled to WASM via Stylus. When a TEE service starts up, it receives an attestation from Google Cloud Confidential Space confirming it is operating with the expected code and security configuration. The Stylus contract verifies that attestation directly onchain, allowing the service to register its signing key in a single transaction. The result was the elimination of an entire component from the architecture: from four components down to three, doing away with the prover, test network dependencies, GPU infrastructure, and per-proof costs, which ranged between $0.018 and $0.13 depending on the provider.
Internal workflows, such as collateral checks, compliance screening, or fund updates, can continue running offchain where latency and throughput demand it, while the critical checkpoint-verifying that the infrastructure is authorized before participating in settlement-becomes verifiable onchain without the need to rewrite the entire system. Solana Foundation president calls meme coins a production test net

Here’s a fun tension inside Solana’s leadership: the Foundation’s president thinks meme coins are useful stress tests for the network. The co-founder thinks they’re garbage. Both of them work on the same blockchain.

Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, said during a discussion with Fundstrat’s Sean Farrell that meme coins should be understood as a “production test” for the network’s performance, not as a defining feature of the ecosystem. In her framing, every degen-fueled trading frenzy is actually a live fire drill for Solana’s infrastructure.

Liu described meme coins as part of a broader spectrum of assets on Solana, ranging from pure speculation on one end to genuine utility on the other. She’s not endorsing meme coins as valuable financial products. She’s saying they serve a mechanical purpose for the network, even if the tokens themselves are economically hollow.

Meme coins accounted for roughly 62% of Solana’s dApp revenue in June 2025. That’s a staggering concentration in assets that, by design, have no fundamental value proposition beyond vibes and momentum.

Rather than deny that reality, Liu is leaning into it with a different narrative. The meme coins aren’t the product. Solana’s ability to process them at scale is the product.

DeFi Insurance Gap Leaves Billions Exposed as Hacks Keep RisingDeFi users are still chasing yield while most of their capital remains exposed to hacks, phishing attacks, and private key failures. According to Nexus Mutual founder Hugh Karp, less than 2% of DeFi’s total value locked has insurance coverage, even as billions continue moving through lending markets, bridges, and staking protocols.

The gap has become harder to ignore after years of major exploits. DeFiLlama data cited in the report shows uninsured lending protocols have lost $7.7 billion to attacks over six years, while April 2026 alone saw more than $600 million lost in security events.

DeFi Cover Remains Thin
DeFi insurance began with large expectations during the 2020 boom, when protocols promised a safer version of open finance. However, the sector remains tiny compared with the market it is supposed to protect.

DeFiLlama lists 28 insurance protocols, yet Nexus Mutual accounts for nearly all of the sector’s $123.5 million in total value locked. That figure represents only 0.14% of DeFi’s wider $83 billion market.

This mismatch shows that coverage has not kept pace with user deposits. Billions sit in lending markets and liquidity pools, while most users carry the risk themselves.

Early coverage products mostly focused on smart contract bugs. Those risks were easier to audit and price. Attackers have since moved toward harder areas, including phishing, private key theft, social engineering, and operational security failures.
