YouTube Deletes Bitcoin.com Channel, Crypto Community Pushes Back

Resumen

YouTube has deleted the Bitcoin.com channel without prior warning, citing "harmful and dangerous" content. The channel, which had over 100,000 subscribers and a decade of educational and news content, had its appeals rejected. This follows a pattern of crypto-focused channels being removed, including BTCsessions and Bitcoin Magazine, often reversed only after public backlash. The crypto community has criticized YouTube's automated moderation, citing unfair treatment compared to the platform's own scam ads. Creators are increasingly looking toward decentralized alternatives like Bitchat, Nostr, and Bluesky to avoid reliance on centralized platform policies.

Jack Dorsey’s decentralized messaging app Bitchat is getting a fresh wave of attention — not because of a product launch, but because YouTube keeps banning crypto channels.

A Decade Of Content, Gone Overnight

Bitcoin.com confirmed that YouTube removed its channel without prior warning, citing “harmful and dangerous” content. The channel had built an audience of more than 100,000 subscribers over 10 years, posting wallet tutorials and cryptocurrency news.

Appeals have been rejected. Broken video embeds have hurt the site’s traffic. According to Bitcoin.com, nothing in its library crossed any line — and while its educational videos were pulled, crypto scam advertisements continued running on the platform untouched.

YouTube has not publicly commented on the removal.

A Pattern That Goes Back Years

This is not an isolated case. BTCsessions, another crypto-focused channel, was removed three separate times between 2019 and 2025. Its most recent ban — issued for what YouTube described as “severe and repeated violations” — was reversed only after a large public backlash.

In September 2025, the Luke Mikic channel was taken down, then restored the same day following a fast appeal.

Earlier in 2026, YouTube swept out a broader group of channels. Reports indicate that the affected accounts lost a combined 35 million subscribers, with demonetization cutting off millions of dollars in revenue.

Bitcoin Magazine was banned in April 2026 — its second removal in four years — this time for content YouTube labeled “low-quality and repetitive.”

Through it all, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan has continued to describe the platform as creator-first. Crypto viewership on the platform dropped to a five-year low in 2026.

YouTube Ban: Creators Look For A Way Out

Reaction on X has been sharp. Creators and viewers alike say the bans are unjustified and that automation has made the process worse — not better. “It’s people’s lives,” one user wrote. “They put a lot of work into it, years, and then you just ban it automatically.”

Alternatives Gain Ground

Voices in the community are pointing creators toward other platforms: Odysee, Rumble, Substack, Spotify, and email lists. Bitchat — still in early development — has drawn particular interest for its design, which operates independently of centralized platforms and does not rely on traditional internet infrastructure.

Nostr and Bluesky, both backed by Dorsey, are being mentioned alongside it as longer-term alternatives for creators who no longer want their work dependent on a single platform’s moderation decisions.

Solana Q1 2026 Report: Key Metrics Show Significant Decline Amid Market Reset Solana experienced a substantial downturn in Q1 2026, with key performance indicators reflecting a broader market cooling. Total network revenue (REV) fell to $89.9 million, down 68% year-over-year (YoY) and 1.4% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ). This decline was driven by reduced speculative activity, which had previously fueled the network during the 2024/2025 bull market. Key revenue components saw mixed results: base fees dropped 8.7% QoQ, Jito tips (MEV) fell 19.7%, priority fees rose 23%, and vote fees declined 44.5%. The annualized real yield for stakers was just 0.17%, down 67% YoY. Network GDP, generated by top applications, fell 7% QoQ to $451 million. Pump Fun emerged as a standout, generating $103 million (up 3% QoQ), surpassing Solana's L1 revenue. However, daily active addresses averaged 2.4 million, down 4.8% YoY. Stablecoin supply on Solana reached $15.9 billion, down 2.7% QoQ but up 18% YoY. USDC and USDT remained dominant. DEX volumes averaged $3.2 billion daily, with private DEXs now accounting for 60% of all volume. The network's net dilution rate was 4.38%, while the cost to produce $1 of REV was $8.10, up 93% YoY. The number of new tokens created on launchpads grew 42% QoQ to 3 million, with Pump Fun dominating 85% of this market. Despite the downturn, Solana's core strengths remain: its position as a hub for retail trading apps, potential in perpetual markets, and growing use in stablecoin-based fintech applications, particularly in Latin America. However, developer activity declined 32% YoY, slightly worse than Ethereum's 29% drop. The network must now focus on attracting traditional finance, competing in perpetual markets, and sustaining developer ecosystem growth to drive the next expansion cycle.
