Recall that the Tron genesis block launched in June 2018, and it took the network four years to reach 100 million accounts. Since then, these metrics have surged rapidly: by Q4 2023, Tron surpassed 200 million accounts, and then reached 300 million by Q2 2025.
Very recently, the network added another 100 million, reaching a total of 400 million accounts on August 23rd, marking a significant milestone for the project.
Furthermore, since its launch, the network has processed over 15.2 billion transactions, with the cumulative transfer volume approaching $30 trillion. Such scale places Tron among the busiest settlement layers in the cryptocurrency space, regardless of its native token's price volatility.

Meanwhile, the growth appears to be almost entirely driven by stablecoin activity rather than speculative trading, given that Tron currently handles 51.4% of all circulating $USDT, whose volume reached $94.2 billion this week, increasing by approximately $3 billion in a single day. Additionally, over the past 30 days, the network's average daily number of active accounts was 4.64 million, with peak figures in August exceeding 5 million, and about 170,000 new addresses being added daily.
This ongoing surge has been tracked by Bitcoin.com News for several months, and reports indicate that Tron is already capturing 52% of small-amount $USDT transfers worldwide, suggesting that this network is the preferred channel for retail payments and cross-border remittances, rather than institutional trading.
Finally, reaching the 400 million mark surpasses larger and older networks in terms of total accounts. However, data on daily active addresses from competitors like Ethereum, which processes over 500,000 daily transactions compared to Bitcoin's roughly 350,000, shows the picture becomes more nuanced if the criterion is not just total accounts but active engagement levels.
Tron's Future
This morning, Tron Inc., the network's corporate treasury, purchased an additional 145,199 $TRX at an average price of $0.3444, bringing its total holdings to 711.5 million $TRX worth approximately $245 million.

At the time of publication, $TRX is trading around $0.344, giving the token a market capitalization of approximately $32.6 billion. Founder Justin Sun noted this important event, posting on X that the network "continues to become sTRONger."
As Ethereum still leads in terms of daily active addresses and decentralized finance activity, it will be interesting to see if Tron's growth, primarily focused on payments, can lead to an increased share for the chain in broader financial activities, beyond just transferring tokens between wallets.
