DOGE Creator Shares Most Memorable Use Case of His Memecoin
The creator of Dogecoin, Billy Markus (also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto), recently shared his most memorable use case for the meme cryptocurrency. He recalled that in July 2022, he paid for a ride in the Las Vegas Loop, a tunnel transportation system operated by Elon Musk's The Boring Company, using Dogecoin ($DOGE). Markus emphasized that this practical transaction, moving beyond mere trading, proved the coin's real-world utility and outweighed any other crypto-related activity he had ever done. He shared this story in response to a social media prompt asking about unusual crypto uses over the weekend, noting the purchase wasn't recent but remained his best blockchain memory. In other recent comments, Markus criticized the prolonged crypto bear market as "boring." Currently, DOGE is trading around $0.07066 with a market cap of $12.07 billion. The co-founder is known for his blunt critiques, having previously called most cryptocurrencies "garbage" and mocked industry figures for excessive Bitcoin enthusiasm.
