On Monday, Stand With Crypto announced endorsements for 32 sitting members of Congress for the November midterm elections.
The advocacy group is funded by Coinbase. All 32 endorsed members voted to pass the CLARITY Act in the House of Representatives last year. The Senate has now blocked consideration of the bill.
Stand With Crypto Ties Its Endorsement List to a Single CLARITY Vote
The group endorsed 32 sitting representatives it wants back in Washington. Their endorsement hinges on a single vote. Each of them supported the CLARITY Act when it passed the House last year.
The CLARITY Act is the industry's number one legislative priority. Crypto companies argue it will provide the legal certainty they have been seeking for years.
"In 2024, we proved, full-stop, that crypto voters are real people," said Executive Director Lehnau in an interview.
He continued: "In 2026, we are showing conclusively that we have the organizational heft and that our supporters represent a real voting block that can swing elections."
This summer, CLARITY faced opposition in the Senate as some lawmakers came out against it. Despite House approval, the key industry bill has stalled short of the finish line.
The bill was approved by the Senate Banking Committee in May. The gap between that committee vote and the current floor logjam is exactly the opening Stand With Crypto aims to exploit by rewarding lawmakers who have already cast their "yes" vote.
Tying the endorsement list to one recorded vote turns the election into a referendum on the bill. The group wants the House members who voted for CLARITY to be back in their seats when the next Congress considers the legislation.
Coinbase Claims Its Group Has Amassed 2.7 Million Supporters
In 2023, Coinbase launched Stand With Crypto as a grassroots organization advocating for cryptocurrency. The Coinbase-backed group formed an affiliated political action committee in May 2024 and spent the next year testing its strength in state primaries.
A "voter center" launched in March rates lawmakers on their digital asset stance. Initially, six endorsements were made.
Representatives Zach Nunn, Susie Lee, Mike Lawler, Don Davis, Greg Landsman, and Rob Bresnahan received "A" ratings. The goal was to make the 120th Congress "the most pro-crypto session in American history," Lehnau said at the time.
The group claims it can mobilize 2.7 million supporters. It cites data from a February survey of 1,000 crypto owners, which shows 59% of owners and 77% of voters don't consistently vote for a single party.
Another bipartisan political action committee, the Blockchain Leadership Fund, backed by Anchorage Digital and Chainlink, unveiled its list of endorsements for the 2026 elections in May.
