GENIUS Act in July. Western Union has launched its US dollar-denominated USDPT stablecoin on Solana, marking its first move into blockchain-based payments and onchain settlement for its global remittance network.
One of the crypto infrastructure platforms involved in the launch, Fireblocks, said on Monday that USDPT is initially being rolled out in Bolivia and the Philippines, while Western Union said it plans to expand the stablecoin to more than 40 countries in 2026.
Major remittance companies have been eyeing stablecoins after the passage of the stablecoin-friendly GENIUS Act in July.
MoneyGram started offering USDC (USDC) stablecoin services in Colombia in September, while Zelle announced plans to offer stablecoin-powered cross-border transfers in October.
Western Union said the "launch of USDPT reflects a broader shift in how global payments are evolving," adding that more financial institutions will adopt "regulated digital assets as core infrastructure going forward."
The stablecoin market cap currently sits at $317.3 billion, a figure that the US Department of the Treasury and Wall Street investment bank Citigroup have tipped to grow above $2 trillion by 2030.

State Street and Galaxy launch tokenized fund to bring cash management onchainState Street Investment Management and Galaxy Asset Management (GLXY) have launched a tokenized fund designed to move a core piece of finance — cash management — onto blockchain networks, the firms said Tuesday.

The State Street Galaxy Onchain Liquidity Sweep Fund, trading under the ticker SWEEP, allows large investors to park stablecoins into a fund that generates yield, while keeping the ability to move in and out at any time. Unlike traditional money market funds that operate during market hours, the new structure runs continuously on blockchain infrastructure.

The market for tokenized funds has grown quickly over the past year, led by products like BlackRock’s BUIDL, which packages short-term U.S. Treasury exposure into a blockchain-based token. Polymarket was banned by the Dutch Gaming Authority (Ksa) in February for operating without a gambling license. However, US-based Kalshi, crypto exchange Hyperliquid and investment giant Interactive Brokers are still offering prediction markets to Dutch users, according to an investigation by Dutch financial newspaper FD.
The Ksa warned that Polymarket’s ban applies to similar platforms. “Websites similar to Polymarket also fall under our supervision and can therefore be sanctioned by us,” a spokesperson reportedly said.

Kalshi appears to be actively targeting the Dutch market, the report said, adding that users can bet on Dutch Eredivisie football matches and previously had the option to speculate on Dutch elections. Hyperliquid, which operates as a decentralized blockchain platform, also recently expanded its prediction market offering to the Netherlands.
