Jordi Visser, a veteran of the macrofinance world, stated that the era of rapid 7-8 fold gains in the AI sector has stalled, and claimed that global capital and market dynamics will shift to Bitcoin and digital assets in the next major wave.

In a period where the growth rate of the AI rally has shifted gears due to capital expenditures (capex) and hardware bottlenecks, attention has once again turned to macroeconomic balances and the cryptocurrency market. Speaking on Anthony Pompliano’s show, Jordi Visser, a macro investor with over 30 years of experience and founder of AI Macro Nexus / AI22 Research, argued that the “easy money” era in AI is over and that it’s Bitcoin’s turn in capital rotation.

Jordi Visser pointed out that the aggressive valuations seen in AI infrastructure investments and large language models (LLMs) have reached saturation point. Stating that the high interest rate environment and physical hardware limitations such as chip and memory shortages are putting pressure on company margins, Visser made the following assessment:

“The ‘easy money’ trading model, where massive returns of 7-8 times the initial investment were achieved through AI, has come to an end. This doesn’t mean AI is dead; however, we’ve now entered a period of grueling and rational growth, typically around 30% annually. Capital is now seeking new avenues in terms of risk-return balance.”

Visser noted that giants like Google and Anthropic are burning significant capital trying to build infrastructure, but profitability is delayed due to physical limitations, which he said would drive investors towards alternative macro assets.

It is a good story. It is also a comparison that falls apart the moment you check the numbers, the legislation, and the vote count. Here is the honest version.

What Actually Happened To Al Stocks After 2021? The Magnificent Seven - Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Tesla - carried a combined market capitalisation of roughly $22.6 trillion as of 22 July 2026, around a third of the entire S&P 500. Nvidia alone sits above $5 trillion. The direction of travel in the viral post is correct: an enormous amount of value has been created since 2021.

The causation is not. The National Al Initiative Act created a coordination office and a federal R&D framework. It did not deregulate a market, unlock institutional capital, or remove a legal overhang. What actually re-rated those stocks was ChatGPT, a capex supercycle, and earnings. The Magnificent Seven are projected to spend around $680 billion Al-related capital expenditure in 2026 alone. That is the engine - not a 2021 authorisation bill.

There is also a warning inside the comparison that the bullish framing skips. That trade is currently cracking. The Mag 7 ETF is up only marginally in 2026, the group is down roughly 11% from its May record

Supporting the bullish case, On-Balance Volume (OBV) has started trending higher, indicating steady accumulation as $XMR approaches resistance. The RSI has climbed above 65, reflecting strengthening bullish momentum, although it is nearing overbought territory where short-term profit-taking often emerges.
Derivatives data also points to improving market participation. Open Interest has climbed above 100K contracts, suggesting fresh capital is entering Monero’s futures market alongside the price recovery. Meanwhile, the Funding Rate remains modestly positive at 0.0098%, indicating bullish positioning is building without signs of excessive leverage.
