Bitcoin Scarcity Levels Heighten as Saylor and Institutional Players Close Entry Path Major institutional buyers, led by MicroStrategy's Michael Saylor, appear to be closing off opportunities for new investors to accumulate Bitcoin near prevailing average cost bases.

A prominent analyst noted on X that time may be running short for purchases aligned with the cost basis shared by Saylor and spot Bitcoin ETF holders. The warning follows MicroStrategy's latest acquisition of 13,927 BTC for roughly $1 billion at an average price of $71,902 per coin. That purchase helped deliver a 5.6% BTC yield year-to-date through 2026.

As of April 12, MicroStrategy's total Bitcoin holdings were 780,897 coins, purchased for approximately $59.02 billion at an average cost of $75,577 per BTC.

The buying has followed a well-established rhythm tied to MicroStrategy's STRC convertible-note program. Purchases typically accelerate toward the end of each dividend cycle because investors do not need to maintain positions for the full month to qualify for payouts. With the current STRC deadline falling on April 15, analysts expect Saylor's buying power to contract sharply afterward.

Allbirds abandons sneakers in pivot to AI computing, shares surge 300%



Allbirds (BIRD) surged around 300% after saying it will pivot from sneakers into AI computation services, underscoring one of the market’s dominant themes: the race to secure scarce AI infrastructure.

The company said it agreed to sell its footwear brand to American Exchange Group and reinvent itself as NewBird AI, backed by a $50 million convertible financing facility to acquire processing units and build AI infrastructure.

The $50 million convertible loan is roughly double the company's $22 million pre-announcement market cap.

Demand for the computing power required to support AI is surging and supply remains constrained, a scarcity that has already seen bitcoin miners pivoting into AI and high-performance computing. Now, even small-cap companies are attempting to position themselves to capture the opportunity.

Convertible financing means the investor initially provides capital to the company as debt, and can later convert it into equity, often at a discount, which can lead to significant dilution for existing shareholders.

Pakistan Ends 7-Year Bitcoin & Crypto Ban for Banks

Pakistan's central bank replaced its 2018 crypto ban, letting banks serve PVARA-licensed crypto firms under strict AML and KYC rules.

Banks remain prohibited from trading, investing in, or holding crypto assets with their own funds or customer deposits.

Pakistan, already the world's third-largest retail crypto market with 40 million participants, is also pursuing bitcoin mining expansion and a national stablecoin.

Pakistan’s central bank has notified all banks and financial institutions that the country’s seven-year ban on providing Bitcoin & crypto services has been lifted.

The move follows the enactment of the 2026 Virtual Assets Act, which established Pakistan’s Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (PVARA) to license, regulate and supervise the sector.

While banks may now serve licensed crypto firms, they remain barred from investing, trading or holding crypto assets using their own funds or customer deposits.

Under the new framework, banks can open accounts for virtual asset service providers (VASPs) licensed under PVARA, including those still seeking approval, provided they comply with strict anti-money laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC), and counter-terrorism financing rules.

The State Bank of Pakistan stated:

“Subject to strict compliance with the conditions outlined herein, SBP Regulated Entities may open bank accounts of entities duly licensed by PVARA as Virtual Asset Service Providers.”
