Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, which manages $14 trillion in assets, released his 2026 annual shareholder letter on March 23. In it, he warned that AI is creating a "K-shaped ending," with leading companies rapidly leaving everyone else behind. He wrote, "When market capitalization climbs while ownership remains narrow, prosperity can feel increasingly distant."

This is not an empty statement. Over the past 20 years, the S&P 500 has increased eightfold. But according to data from the Federal Reserve's 2022 Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF), this eightfold increase has been extremely concentrated.

The richest 1% of American households take 54% of all stock market wealth, compared to 40% 20 years ago. The next 2-10% take 39%. The bottom 90% of Americans collectively own only 7% of stocks, and the bottom 50% own just 1%.  According to Gallup data, 87% of households with annual incomes over $100,000 own stocks, while only 28% own stocks in households with incomes below $50,000.


Finker used a precise analogy in his letter: "Since 1989, one dollar invested in the U.S. stock market has appreciated more than 15 times over a dollar linked to the median wage." In other words, the gap between those with money to invest and those who rely solely on wages has widened 15-fold in 35 years. He worries that AI will "repeat this pattern on a larger scale, concentrating wealth in the hands of companies and investors capable of capturing it."

This diagnosis is sound. The real part of the letter worth dissecting is the prescription that follows.

Analyst: Traders are itching for a reason to start buying bitcoin again

Investors are clinging to any bit of good news amid the conflict in the Middle East.
Bitcoin is holding steady despite fading optimism about war de-escalation, which is sending oil prices up once again and gold down. The asset is sitting in the $70,000 to $71,000 range on Tuesday morning after yesterday’s bump.  

“The market appears to be transitioning into a consolidation phase, with softer activity, defensive positioning, and tentative signs of stabilization emerging across both spot and derivatives segments,” Glassnode analysts said in a report.

They added that in derivatives, open interest dropped, while funding rates flipped positive, “suggesting modest leverage reduction alongside some rebuilding of long exposure, though conviction remains measured.”
As for options markets, they said that open interest is unchanged and volatility expectations are subdued.

“A rise in 25-delta skew points to growing demand for downside protection, reflecting cautious sentiment among traders,” they said.

Alexander S. Blume, founder and CEO of Two Prime, told Sherwood News that despite uncertainty in crypto markets and geopolitical turmoil, bitcoin has remained relatively resilient.

“We have seen a recovery in funding rates and skew that suggests institutions are positioning with less downside protection, perhaps suggesting an upside surprise is in the works,” Blume said. “It seems that expectations are so negative for the Iran conflict that most news will resolve positively, buoying risk assets and reducing inflation fears.”

Macro and geopolitical events will continue to shape bitcoin’s trajectory in the short term, with investors clinging to any bit of good news.

The $75,000 line in the sand: What it’ll take for bitcoin to go "full bull"

Bitcoin $BTC$71,238.09 and the wider crypto market are pushing higher despite the geopolitical whiplash. While the resilience is impressive, a bullish trend change needs a firm move above $75,000.

On Monday, President Donald Trump disclosed a five-day delay in strikes on Iran, claiming talks are underway. That calmed markets and lifted bitcoin to over $71,000. The optimism did not last long. Iran quickly denied talks, and Israel continued its attacks on the country, which responded by targeting Tel Aviv overnight.

Still, bitcoin held steady and is looking to extend yesterday's 4.47% surge, the biggest since March 4. Ether ($ETH), $XRP ($XRP) and solana ($SOL) are following $BTC's lead, as usual, alongside a 24-hour jump of 4% in the CoinDesk 20 Index.

Though the move higher is encouraging for bulls, the real test will be around $75,000, which has been a major turning point at least twice in the past 12 months. The March-April 2025 slide ran out of steam at around $75,000, while the early 2024 rally faced resistance there. Furthermore, $75,000 corresponds to key Fibonacci retracement levels.

"Although the leading cryptocurrency did not immediately capitalize on the upward momentum and extend its gains, simply remaining at these high levels now suggests confidence among the bulls. They are gradually developing a more optimistic outlook," Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at the FxPro, said in an email.

"However, it would be premature to declare the end of the downtrend until prices settle above $75K, where the March pivot points and the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level from the January-February decline are concentrated."

In other words, a convincing move above $75,000 would confirm a bull revival. Solana's $SOL token, which is trading near $90, could emerge as a star performer in that case.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is starting to change how it handles crypto regulation. Instead of relying mainly on lawsuits and enforcement actions, it is now working toward creating clear and structured rules.

On the 20th of March, the SEC quietly sent two important proposals to the White House. One focuses on making hedge funds and private equity firms more transparent.

Meanwhile, the second proposal was a more significant one for crypto. The latter aims to create a clear system to classify digital assets.

White House reviews crypto interpretation

If approved, many cryptocurrencies may no longer be classified as securities, reducing confusion and giving the industry clearer rules to follow. Instead of relying on lawsuits, the SEC is shifting toward setting clear guidelines, as reported by Bloomberg.

The proposed “innovation exemption” highlights this change. Rather than strict enforcement, the SEC is offering a more supportive environment where crypto firms can operate with fewer restrictions. This means new companies may not need to immediately meet complex registration requirements, making it easier for them to build and grow in the U.S.

Remarking on the same, Michael S. Selig, Chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), said,

Chairman Atkins and I now have developed a new interpretation that will provide clarity once and for all as to what’s a security and what’s not

Citing the reason behind this shift, Selig explains that earlier, the SEC, under Chair Gary Gensler, companies were often left guessing what was allowed and what wasn’t. This confusion pushed many crypto businesses to move outside the U.S.

In fact, because of this unclear environment, many developers became hesitant and stopped taking risks. Now, the new SEC proposals are trying to fix that by bringing more clarity and encouraging innovation to return to the U.S.

Bitcoin is bullish after peace talks started between Iran and the United States this week, and the upward momentum may continue.
The stock market and the crypto market both shot up on Monday after Trump announced that he was having very productive talks with the Iran government over the situation in the Middle East. Bitcoin had fallen to a low of $67.4K on Sunday, its lowest point since early March, and selling pressure intensified for the crypto market. The pressure was the direct result of intensifying conflict in the Middle East, as Qatar was drawn into the war after an attack on its oil facilities. Rising tensions resulted in the closing of the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil and gas shipping lane for the region.
Over the past few weeks, Bitcoin has been moving from one gain to the next and holding onto much of its progress. It is only in the last few days that it started to falter, and we suspect that the coin has regained much of its strength from the middle of 2025. Analysts agree that Bitcoin’s downward spiral in late 2025 and early 2026 has exhausted itself and that the coin is primed for explosive growth this year.

As fighting stops in Iran and the surrounding areas, this could be the chance to Bitcoin to surge much higher. We are already seeing an increase of more than 4% and climbing movement from the coin and the wider cryptocurrency market as the new week begins. Ethereum (ETH) is up nearly 5%, and Solana (SOL) has gained 4.74% since the previous day. There is bullish momentum across the market, and similar increases are taking place on the stock market.
