Is Bitcoin’s dip below $70K the latest fakeout before its next move higher?

New wallets are entering, derivatives are still stable, and liquidity clusters are forming.
A key difference between bull and bear markets is how traders position around FUD. 

In a bear market, for example, highly overstretched derivatives positions indicate that traders are leaning heavily on speculation. On the other hand, during a bull market, conviction tends to hold strong. In this way, trader behavior around fear and uncertainty reveal the underlying trend.

Naturally, the question now is, where does Bitcoin [BTC] sit in this context? Technically, at press time, BTC seemed to be showing a bearish tilt after a volatile 48 hours. The price slipped by over 6%, breaking below the $70k-support level, with the crypto retracing back towards its early-March levels.
Still, there has been no sign of cascading liquidations just yet. 

According to Coinglass, Bitcoin’s long liquidations remain under $120 million, even lower than mid-March, when BTC dropped by 6.83% in the week after the FOMC meeting. This might mean that traders aren’t panicking yet, and the market may be digesting the move rather than capitulating.

This divergence is telling. Normally, a break below key support would trigger heavy deleveraging, forcing traders to close positions. Instead, the reaction has been contained, signaling that Bitcoin’s derivatives positioning hasn’t been overstretched despite the consolidation.

Notably, analysts have pointed out that this looks more like market repositioning, rather than outright dumping. In other words, traders may be adjusting their positions instead of panicking. If this interpretation holds, BTC’s recent pullback could actually be a textbook bear trap, a fakeout designed to shake out weak hands before the market makes a potential move higher.

Lido plans 8.5% LDO supply buyback to fix ‘price dislocation’ – Details


Ethereum’s [$ETH] leading staking platform, Lido, has proposed a ‘one-off’ plan to buy back about 8.5% of the $LDO circulating supply.

The proposal calls for funding the buyback with 10,000 stETH from the Lido DAO Treasury. At current prices of $2,000–$2,100 per stETH, this equates to roughly $20–$21 million.

Since it’s a one-off plan, if approved, that would buy 70 million $LDO tokens, or about 8.5% of the circulating supply.

Why Lido is bullish on its token

On the reason behind the move, the protocol said,

$LDO is trading at historically depressed levels relative to $ETH, a 70% discount that characterized most of the prior two years.

It cited the $LDO/$ETH ratio, which tracks $LDO price performance relative to $ETH. The ratio has marked a new low in 2026, meaning that $LDO has continued to underperform $ETH in a two-year streak.

Kalshi legal woes grow with Washington state gambling suit


Kalshi is facing another state-level lawsuit after the state of Washington on Friday filed allegations that the prediction market operator violated state gambling laws with its products.

The Washington Attorney General’s complaint cites the Pacific Northwest state’s existing ban on online gambling and otherwise strict oversight of the gaming market, in claiming Kalshi violated the Washington Consumer Protection Act, Gambling Act, and Recovery of Money Lost at Gambling Act.

"Kalshi’s website and app show consumers a range of events that they can bet on and the odds for those various events, which dictate how much the bettor will be paid out if the event occurs," an announcement from Attorney General Nick Brown said. "This is exactly how sportsbooks and other gambling operations function. Kalshi advertises that they allow consumers to 'bet on anything' by simply calling their service a 'prediction market' rather than 'gambling.'"

The definition of gambling under Washington law is “staking or risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance or a future contingent event,” and Kalshi’s activities fall squarely within that definition, the AG’s announcement said. “Each Kalshi bet risks money, relies in part on chance, and promises a payout to winners.”

Kalshi immediately sought to move the case to federal court, saying in its filing that the issues raised by the Washington suit are already being litigated in other federal courts and that there had been "no warning or dialogue" from Washington state prior to the lawsuit.
