BNB Chain activates Pasteur hard fork to strengthen bridge security

$BNB Smart Chain (BSC) activated its Pasteur hard fork on Tuesday, closing bridge verification and validator authorization gaps while introducing a new route intended to fit more transactions into each block.

In a Tuesday post, $BNB Chain confirmed that Pasteur was live on the BSC mainnet. The team said the upgrade strengthens the network’s bridge, staking and governance security while giving blocks more capacity without changing its 450-millisecond block time.

The upgrade combines three $BNB Evolution Proposals. BEP-682 rejects duplicate validator entries during cross-chain light-block verification, while BEP-695 tightens controls involving validator key rotation, slashing and governance voting. Furthermore, BEP-675 changes how specialist builders submit blocks to validators.

The upgrade prevents validators from being counted more than once in bridge approvals, removes authority from old validator keys and blocks restricted addresses from voting, while aiming to fit more transactions into blocks during busy periods.

Bitcoin traders place $2.9 million bet on a rapid price jump above Bitcoin’s $BTC$80,733.47 recent staggering price rise has some traders paying millions for upside exposure.

On Monday, one or more traders bought 2,000 bitcoin call-option contracts with an $82,000 strike price expiring on Sept. 4, according to data tracking platform Laevitas. The trade effectively bets that bitcoin’s spot price, currently near $80,000, will rise above $82,000 on or before Sept. 4.

Think of it like buying a lottery ticket – the buyer pays a relatively small upfront amount for the chance of a much larger payout if the bet pays off. In this case, the call buyers spent $2.9 million in premium, the maximum they stand to lose if bitcoin remains below $82,000 through the Sept. 4 expiry.This bullish options flow comes amid a renewed upswing in Bitcoin. $BTC is currently trading around $80,000, up from roughly $64,000 a week ago, a 25% gain over seven days, according to CoinDesk data.The rally appears to have been driven by the U.S. Treasury’s bond-buyback announcement, continued inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs, and short liquidations that likely accelerated the move higher.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a determination allowing it to sanction any person, regardless of location, it determines operates in Iran’s cryptocurrency sector.“The Iranian regime increasingly turns to cryptocurrency as a tool of choice for sanctions evasion, supporting transactions linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iranian regime insiders,” a Treasury announcement reads.Iran’s crypto ecosystem reached $7.78 billion in 2025, according to Chainalysis data. IRGC-linked wallets received more than $3 billion during the year and accounted for over half of Iranian crypto inflows in the fourth quarter, though the estimates cover only wallets publicly tied to sanctions listings.

Crypto was one of five sectors named under Operation Economic Outcast, which Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described as an economic “D–Day.” Technology, gold, aviation and shipping were the other included sectors.

The change does not automatically blacklist every Iranian crypto company or prohibit all activity involving the country’s digital asset industry. Instead, it gives OFAC a standing basis for future designations, widening a campaign that had previously focused on named exchanges, wallets and individuals.

Solana ETFs extend growth streak to 5 days after year's biggest inflows
U.S. spot solana ($SOL) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) extended their inflow streak to a fifth day on Monday, adding $33.5 million in the largest single-day total this year.

The additions pushed the total cumulative net inflows to a record $1.22 billion and total trading volume to $166.8 million, the highest since October 2025, according to SoSoValue data.

Bitwise’s BSOL led Monday's inflows with $25 million, bringing its cumulative total to $948.2 million or roughly 80% of all capital that has entered the U.S. spot $SOL ETFs, Farside data shows. Fidelity’s FSOL added $4.8 million and Grayscale's GSOL $3.7 million.

The five-session streak ran from Aug. 18, netting a total of $61.8 million over the period. The ETFs posted 21 consecutive days of inflows following their Oct. 28 debut, adding more than $620 million.

U.S. spot bitcoin BTC$79,245.46 and ether ETH$2,475.27 ETFs were also on consecutive streaks of inflows. Ether ETFs recorded $116 million in inflows on Aug. 24, extending their streak to six straight days, according to Farside. Bitcoin ETFs also logged a sixth consecutive positive session, with $338 million of inflows taking the total for the period to $2.3 billion, their strongest weekly run since October 2025.
