Social media platform X is in talks to explore how stablecoins, such as Circle Internet’s CRCL$83.78·At close USDC, can be used to pay royalties to influential users for uploading content, according to a person familiar with the plans.

The conversations with X are ongoing, said the person, who also works with other social media platforms testing stablecoins as a way to pay commissions to influencers.

Media representatives of X did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Stablecoins, which boast a collective market cap of over $300 billion, have become a staple for blockchain payments, facilitating faster, cheaper cross-border transactions for everyone from small businesses to multinationals moving large amounts of money between subsidiaries.

It’s not so surprising the Elon Musk-owned company is looking to stablecoins to pay royalties to content providers around the world. Musk’s SpaceX already uses stablecoins to collect cross-border payments from customers of Starlink, which provides satellite internet services in various emerging markets.

In March, Musk hired crypto veteran Benji Taylor as the head of design at X, tying his role to both xAI and SpaceX. Taylor, who led design at Coinbase Global’s COIN$171.85·At close Base blockchain network, has a background in wallets and decentralized finance.

X is overhauling how it pays creators, as outlined in a recent post by the social media firm, phasing out its long-running Revenue Sharing program in favor of a new system called the Original Content Rewards Program.

The new program is designed to “reward creators who bring original ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity, and commentary to X,” the company said.

Bitcoin’s $BTC$72,022.02 rally on Wednesday extended into Thursday, climbing above $72,000 to the highest since June 1.

While the advance was triggered by relief in the bond market following White House support signals for U.S. Treasuries, longer-term gains are likely to be underpinned by the Fed, said Pedro Fontes, a research analyst at crypto exchange Mercado Bitcoin.

“This is precisely the kind of environment that strengthens the case for Bitcoin,” he wrote in a note. “If the world's largest debt market needs support in order to function with greater stability, demand grows for assets that are scarce, predictable, and outside the logic of public debt expansion.”

The Dollar Index, a measure of the U.S. currency against a pool of trading partners, slid 0.88% yesterday to 98.77, the lowest since May.

Matt Cole, founder and CEO of Strive, said on X that he has long believed the index is in a “structural decline that is likely to continue.” That, he said, could translate into a bullish environment for bitcoin.

Today’s trading session will focus not only on further signals from the White House, but also on geopolitical developments that could further affect yields and influence intervention. Initial jobless claims data could help provide guidance.

The market’s move in the last 24 hours led to more than $3.3 billion in liquidations, according to CoinGlass. $3 billion of that were shorts, leaving fewer positions now exposed to forced buying to carry crypto higher.

Still, $BTC’s margin-borrow rate has risen to 4.6% from 3.9% before the rally, suggesting traders are reentering short positions. Stay alert!

Anyone who wants to check whether a crypto platform is authorised at all in the European Union sooner or later comes across an official register built for exactly that purpose. The European securities regulator ESMA has maintained a register of non-compliant firms since February 2025. It is meant to collect, across Europe, those providers that supply crypto-asset services without the required permission.

We downloaded the register file on August 16, 2026, counted it line by line and called up every web address stored in it individually. The result sits awkwardly beside the European ambition of this register. Of 167 entries, 165 come from a single member state. Germany's BaFin has contributed not one, even though it has been issuing warnings about crypto platforms throughout the current year. And of 242 stored web addresses, 153 no longer answered at all on the day of the survey.

The altcoin market has landed at a key spot, and Solana is no exception.

Crypto rallied over the past 24 hours, pushing Bitcoin and several altcoins beyond key resistance levels.

Solana cleared the $80 supply zone, reopening a potential path toward $100 by the end of Q3. Its improving fundamentals kept that target within reach.

As the chart below shows, Solana’s tokenization and ETF momentum continues to pick up. Just seven weeks in, Backpack and Sunrise’s tokenized stocks on Solana are already outperforming U.S. exchanges.

During regular hours, Solana trades roughly in line with TradFi. But pre-market, post-market, and overnight, the edge flips, highlighting Solana’s growing potential as an alternative to traditional market infrastructure.

Notably, the market is already starting to take notice.

According to SoSoValue, Solana ETFs ended the week with over $10 million in net inflows, marking their strongest weekly inflow since the May cycle.

Combined with strong tokenization activity, this points to growing institutional interest and adds more weight to the $100 $SOL target.

Naturally, that brings the focus back to the past 24 hours.

With the broader market turning risk-on and Solana’s [$SOL] fundamentals strengthening, the 10%+ move on the 19th of August could just be the start for $SOL. However, the market still doesn’t look fully convinced.

Solana targets $100, but the rally needs more strength

The past 24 hours have been a textbook liquidation event.

Solana has been no exception.

According to SolanaFloor, nearly $40 million in $SOL shorts were liquidated in the last hour as $SOL pushed back above $80. The largest single short liquidation was $1 million around $82. Meanwhile, longs are piling back in, with Arkham spotting a $40 million leveraged long opened by one trader.
