The crypto market has stabilized, with bitcoin BTC$62,791.65 rising nearly 7% in the week ended July 5, its best performance since March.

The impetus comes from inflation breakevens, which measure the market's expectations of future price increases by comparing regular government bonds to inflation-protected ones. The two-year breakeven has dropped below 2% (check the Daily Signal), which is the Fed's target for inflation. The longer-term breakevens have also dropped sharply in recent weeks.

Notably, both the two-year breakeven rate and WTI oil prices, which influence inflation, have slipped to levels last seen before the onset of the Iran war in late February.

This is leading some observers to question inflation concerns, Fed interest-rate-hike bets and the dollar's strength. Bullish positioning is lopsided and vulnerable to sudden unwinding that could put the Dollar Index (DXY) under pressure. Such a snap adjustment could happen on July 14, when the U.S. reports the consumer price index for June.

Michael Saylor's Strategy dramatically ups pace of bitcoin sales, raising $216 millionStrategy (MSTR) sold 3,588 bitcoin for approximately $216 million last week, reducing its total holdings to 843,775 $BTC, according to a Monday SEC filing.

The company said proceeds from the bitcoin sales will be used to fund distributions on its preferred stock and replenish the portion of its U.S. dollar reserve used for those payments. As of July 5, the USD reserve totaled $2.55 billion.

The latest sales were executed at an average price of roughly $60,000 per bitcoin and are dramatically higher than the 32 bitcoin sold by the company about one month ago, which sent crypto prices plunging. Strategy currently holds 843,775 $BTC acquired for approximately $63.69 billion, or an average purchase price of $75,476 per bitcoin.Strategy also said it did not sell any shares under its at-the-market equity program during the week ended July, and did not repurchase any shares under its buyback programs. The company added that the full $1.25 billion capacity under its recently announced $BTC Monetization Program remains available.

Strategy shares are down 2% in pre-market trading and bitcoin has given up much of its weekend gain, trading down to $61,900 from $62,900 prior to the announcement.

The EU’s post-transition crypto regime is deciding who controls the compliant rails for stablecoins, wallets and retail access.
MiCA’s post-deadline rules are shifting from licensing into distribution control, deciding which firms can keep serving EU crypto users.
02That gives banks and licensed platforms an edge, as compliant stablecoins and wallets can reach customers through trusted regulated channels.
03The open question is whether EU users stay on MiCA rails or keep seeking USDT liquidity and offshore access outside the perimeter.
Europe's MiCA deadline has now entered the phase in which licenses begin to shape distribution.
The first wave of concern centered on which platforms European users could still reach after July 1. The next phase is more structural. MiCA is deciding which issuers, banks, asset servicers, and app providers can continue offering stablecoins and crypto products to customers within the regulated market.
ESMA says MiCA creates uniform EU rules for crypto-asset issuers and service providers, covering transparency, disclosure, authorization and supervision. Its interim MiCA register was last updated on July 3, two days after the transitional period for many existing crypto-asset service providers expired.
That timing matters because the end of the grandfathering period changes MiCA from a licensing deadline into a distribution filter. Authorized firms can keep serving the market. Unauthorized firms must move toward exit, transfer, or closure.
ESMA's June 23 statement told unauthorized crypto-asset service providers to stop onboarding new EU clients, stop opening new client relationships or accounts, cease marketing and solicitation, and limit activity to steps needed to sell, transfer, reallocate or close positions.

The sale comes a week after Strategy introduced its Digital Credit Capital Framework. The framework authorized limited Bitcoin sales to fund cash reserves, preferred dividends, and share repurchases while preserving the company’s long-term Bitcoin exposure. The latest transaction reduced Strategy’s holdings to 843,775 BTC, according to Executive Chairman Michael Saylor.

Strategy puts new Bitcoin monetization policy into action
In a post on X on Monday, July 6, Saylor said the company sold 3,588 BTC to fund dividends on its Digital Credit securities. Following the transaction, Strategy held 843,775 BTC alongside $2.55 billion in U.S. dollar reserves.

The update marks a notable shift from the company’s previous reporting cycle. In its 29 June Form 8-K, Strategy disclosed that it had made no Bitcoin purchases during the week ended 28 June and still held 847,363 BTC. The filing also unveiled a new treasury framework that authorized Bitcoin sales under defined circumstances.

That framework allows Strategy to sell Bitcoin to build its USD Reserve, pay preferred stock dividends, and interest expenses. Also, it allows it to fund repurchases of preferred securities and Class A common stock.

However, the filing also made clear that the program does not obligate the company to sell Bitcoin and is intended to preserve its long-term exposure to the asset.

At first glance, Cardano [ADA] seems to fit that narrative. After three consecutive red quarters, each posting average losses of more than 40%, ADA had become one of the weakest-performing major altcoins this cycle. But is that trend finally starting to reverse?

From the technical standpoint, ADA has kicked off Q3 with a strong 30% rally, outperforming the broader altcoin market. More notably, its gains are over 2.3x larger than Ethereum’s [ETH] so far this quarter, suggesting that capital may be rotating back into ADA as momentum begins to build.But zooming into the charts, things start looking a bit different.

On the daily timeframe, ADA has already pulled back more than 2% in under 48 hours after pushing above the $0.20 level, a resistance it also failed to clear back in mid-June. That repeated rejection keeps a breakdown firmly in play. Pair that with a near-parabolic run over the past week, and it’s not surprising to see traders taking profits instead of chasing higher prices.

At first glance, that makes it easy to label ADA’s rally as just another hype cycle. The fundamentals don’t help that case either. Cardano’s total value locked (TVL) has dropped nearly 68% over the past year. According to DefiLlama, TVL has fallen from $276.19 million to around $89.16 million today, a sharp decline that suggests on-chain liquidity has yet to catch up with the recent price action.Taken together, the charts and on-chain data make ADA’s recent 2% pullback look like the start of a deeper correction. But markets are all about timing. And right now, the timing suggests FOMO is still in play.
