Market Updates: Circle Sued Over $280M Drift Exploit, Grinex Halts Trading After $13.7M Hack, Public Miners Dump 32K Bitcoin in Q1 A series of major developments has unsettled the crypto sector today, including legal action against Circle Internet Group, a fresh exchange hack, record Bitcoin sales by miners, and the launch of spot crypto trading services by leading brokerage Charles Schwab.

To begin with, Circle Internet Group faces a class action arising from a major breach involving Drift Protocol. The lawsuit, filed in a Massachusetts federal court by investor Joshua McCollum, represents more than 100 affected participants. The case centers on an April 1 breach that resulted in approximately $280 million in losses. According to the complaint, attackers transferred roughly $230 million in USDC across blockchains over several hours. These transactions allegedly used Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) to route funds from Solana to Ethereum without interruption.

Why are deadbeat stocks Oracle, Microsoft, and AMD suddenly the week’s best performers?

This week gave beaten-up stock names a strange new job. They stopped acting like laggards and started leading the screen. Oracle (NYSE: ORCL), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), and AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) came into Friday on track for huge weekly gains, the kind that reset charts and force traders to stop laughing at names they had written off.

Oracle rose 27% for the week, its best run since June 1999. AMD added 14% for the week, hit an all-time high on Thursday, and kept alive a 13-session winning streak that has pushed the shares up more than 42%.

Microsoft also climbed 14% in what is its best week since April 2015 after a brutal March quarter in which the software giant lost almost a quarter of its value, its worst quarter since 2008.

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) gained about 15% this week after Elon Musk said on Wednesday that the company hit a key milestone on its AI5 chip.

Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO), Micron (NASDAQ: MU), and ON Semiconductor are each up about 30% so far in April. Marvell is up 41% this month. The iShares Expanded Tech-Software ETF, or IGV, is up about 14% week to date, which puts it on track for its best week since its record week in October 2001.

The SPDR Info Tech Fund, known as XLK, hit an all-time high on Friday for the first time since October 2025 and closed at a record level after 13 straight days of gains. That fund also logged its best week since April 2025.

What is changing now is the pace. The recent push higher suggests that buyers are beginning to test the upper boundary with more intent. It is not a breakout yet, but it is no longer passive movement either.

This shift in behavior often comes just before expansion. The resistance levels at around $3.40 and $4.5 stand as the key targets for the token’s price action in the long run.

Polish cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto's problems just keep mounting.

Already under fire following reports of frozen or delayed customer withdrawals, the company on Friday drew the ire of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who told parliament the company had sponsored some politicians who opposed crypto market regulation.

Blocking the legislation by some politicians showed they were toeing Zondacrypto's line, Tusk said before a vote to overturn President Karol Nawrocki's veto of the law, according to a report by AP. The exchange has links to Russia and had previously provided the lawmakers with financial support, he said.

Tusk's comments came a day after Zondacrypto CEO Przemysław Kral turned to X to defuse allegations the company was helping itself to investors' funds to bulk up its declining reserves.

In a statement and video published on the platform, Kral said the exchange had sufficient reserves, and owns a bitcoin wallet holding about 4,500 BTC, about $330 million. There is a problem, though: It can't access the funds because the previous owner didn't hand over the private key and has now disappeared.
