Analyzing Bitcoin's 15% June decline despite $43mln in whale buysBitcoin's sentiment remained mildly bearish heading into the latest trading week, with the asset locked in a ranging phase after failing to close above $65,000 over the past week.

More broadly, Bitcoin [$BTC] has traded below the $70,000 mark for roughly 21 days as bearish pressure persisted.

Fresh whale activity over the past day revived interest in whether large buyers could push the asset higher, so AMBCrypto examined how whale flows have shaped Bitcoin's price action in recent weeks.

Whales step in with major buys

Whales matter to any asset because of the capital they deploy and because they tend to hold for the longer term, unlike retail traders, who typically offload more quickly.

Over the past 24 hours, whale entries into Bitcoin drew attention once again. One whale bought 500 Bitcoin-worth roughly $32.31 million-from custodian BitGo and moved the coins to a private wallet, signalling a higher likelihood that the investor intends to hold for the long term

PAC's $5.5 million Congress pick gets Maryland win, more crypto allies advanceThe leading crypto political action committee, Fairshake, often backs its favored hopefuls for the U.S. House of Representatives with ad campaigns in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, but it devoted Senate-level money - some $5.5 million - to Adrian Boafo, a Democrat who just won his party's nomination for a Maryland seat on Tuesday.

The state delegate's dominant victory records another success for the industry's super PAC and its affiliates after having notched a big primary election win with its $12 million devoted to Barry Moore's Alabama Senate bid last week.

Boafo's campaign website says he's looking to "provide responsible regulatory clarity for innovators building the next generation of financial tools," though it also included consumer-protection language often associated with crypto-resistance Democrats. Still, he has a record of pro-crypto legislative efforts in his state and favorably completed advocacy group Stand With Crypto's political questionnaire to earn that group's "A" rating.

The industry's support didn't go unnoticed. The open seat drew a massive number of Democratic candidates to replace outgoing Rep. Steny Hoyer, and Maryland's U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen bashed the "obscene amount of big special-interest money" Boafo received in the race

Ethereum's much-hated staking 'tax' may already be obsolete

Ethereum's latest "funding crisis" has triggered a fierce debate over whether to tax staking rewards or to pursue funding from large ETH holders for new organizations like EthLabs. Ethereum is running out of money, according to former insiders.

The warning has sparked one of the fiercest Ethereum governance debates in months: should the network fund developers by taxing staking rewards, or just rely on wealthy Ether holders to bankroll its ecosystem?
