Bitcoin Cash [BCH], despite a strong run this year, could face another major decline that drives the asset toward $100, according to new on-chain insight.

Data across the spot and perpetual markets point to building selling pressure, with key indicators flashing the risk of a deeper move lower.

The Aloha on-chain signal, an indicator that has marked the tops and bottoms of asset prices on multiple occasions, shows that neither target has been met for BCH so far.

At press time, data from Alphractal places BCH in the middle of that range, between its top and bottom. Joao Wedson, senior analyst and founder of Alphractal, said he would not be surprised by a further BCH drop despite the asset’s record.

“Even with this impressive track record, I would not be surprised if BCH still falls further.”
If a drop materializes, the signal indicates the price would likely find a floor near $100—the level that typically marks its bottom—roughly 50% below where it trades now.

Wedson added that nothing guarantees the decline, noting that “no market ever gives certainty.” However, AMBCrypto reviewed the wider spot and derivatives data to gauge how that move could play out.

It took seven full days for anyone to realize $4.67 million had walked out of the Axelar to Secret Network bridge. The drain happened on June 10, and nobody on either side noticed until June 17, when a routine cross-chain transfer failed and someone went to check the escrow balance on the Axelar side. The account was empty. Because Secret Network is built around a privacy-by-default design where contract state and transaction details are shielded from public view, the on-chain footprints that usually tip off security researchers within minutes were simply invisible. That gave the attacker an entire week of breathing room while the funds were quietly moved off. Axelar's emergency committee has since disabled the Secret and Secret-SNIP connections, but the money is already gone.

An infinite-mint bug, wrapped in a custom contract

The vulnerability lived in a modified CW20-ICS20 contract on the Secret side of the bridge, which is the piece of code that handles inbound assets arriving over Cosmos IBC and mints Secret-wrapped versions of them. Those wrapped versions are the saTokens that DeFi users on Secret actually hold and trade. The attacker is accused of doing something elegantly simple: spinning up their own single-validator Cosmos chain, opening a brand new IBC channel directly to the Secret bridge contract, then self-relaying forged packets that carried token denominations matching the contract's allow-list. The contract checked which denomination was coming in. It did not check which channel that denomination was supposed to be coming from.

That single missing check is the entire story. Because the saToken contract trusted any properly-formatted IBC packet carrying a known denomination, the attacker was free to mint fully-backed-looking saUSDT, saUSDC, saDAI, saWETH, saWBTC, saWBNB and sawstETH out of thin air. Those fresh

That's the conclusion from an indicator that might seem to signal a bearish shift in sentiment but has tended to presage a more bullish outlook.

The indicator is based on two moving averages: Bitcoin’s 50-week simple moving average (SMA) and the 100-week average. The 50-week average, representing roughly one year, is very close to dropping below the 100-week line. A shorter-term measure is often seen as a more accurate reflection of recent attitudes, so the cross would trigger what analysts call a "bear cross." At current trajectories, it could happen as soon as next week.

While that might sound scary to bulls, it is potentially positive news.

There have been three such bear crosses in bitcoin's history, and each marked a market bottom, signaling the end of a decline and the beginning of a three-year rally. The impending cross, therefore, suggests the bear market has nearly run its course and the bottom is near.

Critics would argue that three past instances aren't enough to draw a definite conclusion. While that is true, the contrarian record of the bear cross is consistent with the reputation of ultra-long-duration moving averages as "lagging" indicators.
