Groq raises $650 million for AI inference cloud after Nvidia licensing deal
Groq raised $650 million to expand its inference cloud business six months after licensing its semiconductor technology to Nvidia and losing its founder.

The funding round was led by Disruptive and Infinitum. Groq’s press announcement said existing investors also participated.

The company did not disclose a new valuation. Groq was valued at $6.9 billion after its September $750 million fundraising round.

Groq pivots to cloud infrastructure after Nvidia deal

In December 2025, Nvidia signed a non-exclusive licensing agreement for Groq’s language processing unit (LPU) technology, a chip designed specifically for running AI models.

As part of that arrangement, Nvidia hired away Groq co-founder and CEO Jonathan Ross, president Sunny Madra, and other staff.

Nvidia went on to unveil its own hardware system built on the licensed technology, the LPX inference platform, at its GTC conference in March.

Groq has repositioned around its cloud infrastructure business. The company runs 13 data centers spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, serving over five million developers and processing trillions of AI tokens per week, per its press release.

The newest inference hardware from Groq, which includes Nvidia’s LPX systems, will be deployed across existing data centers with the assistance of the new capital. Groq stated that its objective is to achieve 200 megawatts of capacity by the end of 2027.

Groq taps xAI and Meta veterans to fill key executive roles

Groq has been rebuilding its executive team since the Nvidia departures. The board is currently chaired by Alex Davis, the founder and CEO of Disruptive, the main investor. Adam Winter serves as CEO and Matt Eng as CFO, both long tenured at the company, according to Groq’s announcement.

holds above key support as momentum indicators hint at stabilizationBitcoin ($BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and $XRP are starting the week on a more stable footing after last week's declines.

$BTC is trading above $64,000 but remains below major moving averages, keeping the broader trend bearish.

Crypto market opens new weekly candle with signs of stability

Bitcoin, Ethereum, and $XRP are showing resilience at the start of the week after experiencing notable declines during the previous trading period.

Bitcoin fell nearly 4% last week, while Ethereum and $XRP dropped approximately 2% and 6%, respectively.

Despite the weakness, all three assets have stabilized, with Bitcoin trading above $64,000, Ethereum holding the critical $1,700 support level, and $XRP consolidating near $1.13.

For Bitcoin, traders are closely watching technical indicators for clues about whether the recent recovery can develop into a broader rebound.

Bitcoin remains below major resistance levels Bitcoin is currently trading around $64,000, but the broader technical outlook remains cautious. $BTC continues to trade below its key moving averages, 50-day EMA: approximately $69,106, 100-day EMA: approximately $72,123, and 200-day EMA: approximately $77,748.

The fact that Bitcoin remains below all three indicators suggests that sellers still maintain control of the broader trend.

The Spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been experiencing a prolonged period of negative performance.

Galaxy Research reports that net outflows of $6.35 billion over the past 30 days have caused U.S. spot Bitcoin [BTC] ETFs to record their worst monthly performance since their inception.

This number is the highest of all 582 rolling 30-day periods that the firm tracks, highlighting a notable exodus of institutional capital from Bitcoin investment products.

If the trend continues, such prolonged outflows could lessen the short-term demand support for Bitcoin prices. Needless to say, these outflows usually indicate waning investor sentiment, profit-taking, or a more general shift toward risk-off positioning.

Winners and losers of Bitcoin ETF

During these 30 days, BlackRock’s IBIT experienced the biggest outflows, totaling $4.51 billion, making it the loser of the month. Morgan Stanley’s MSBT, on the other hand, saw $1.25 billion in inflows after winning in these 30 days.

While this happened, Bitcoin’s price dropped from about $76K in early May to $64K at the time of publication.

As can be seen, it’s the Bitcoin price that triggered the outflows, which caused the price to move from a bullish to a bearish zone.

How other ETFs are performing?

While Bitcoin ETFs experienced a difficult period, spot Ethereum [$ETH] ETFs also saw $1.149 billion outflows. In the $ETH space too, BlackRock’s ETHA saw the largest outflows, while Fidelity’s FETH saw the largest inflows.

As for the Solana [SOL] ETF, it received $113.34 million in inflows in these 30 days.

The asset traded at $1.03 at press time, reflecting a 12.3% decline over the last 24 hours. Despite the retracement, market activity intensified rather than faded.

Trading volume climbed 67.3% to $71.34 million, indicating that participants remained highly engaged during the correction.

Earlier, $AXS delivered a sharp breakout move that attracted fresh interest across the market. However, the latest decline suggested that many traders secured profits following the rapid rise.

Even so, elevated volume showed that buyers and sellers continued battling for control, keeping $AXS among the more actively traded assets in the market.

Are spot buyers absorbing the selling pressure?

Spot market participants continued showing interest despite the recent decline.

According to CryptoQuant analytics, the Spot Taker CVD remained buyer-dominant, revealing that market buy orders continued to outweigh sell orders across the observed period. The trend suggested buyers had not fully stepped away even as the token corrected from its local high.

While price moved lower, spot demand remained relatively firm, creating an interesting divergence between market activity and price action.

Such conditions often reflect accumulation behavior rather than widespread capitulation.

Nevertheless, buyers still faced the challenge of absorbing supply from traders who secured profits during the rally.

If spot demand continues strengthening, $AXS could stabilize above current levels.

Otherwise, persistent selling pressure could delay any meaningful recovery attempt over the near term.
