2026 World Cup Posting Challenge on HTX Square

Groq raised $650 million to expand its inference cloud business six months after licensing its semiconductor technology to Nvidia and losing its founder.

The funding round was led by Disruptive and Infinitum. Groq’s press announcement said existing investors also participated.

The company did not disclose a new valuation. Groq was valued at $6.9 billion after its September $750 million fundraising round.

Groq pivots to cloud infrastructure after Nvidia deal
In December 2025, Nvidia signed a non-exclusive licensing agreement for Groq’s language processing unit (LPU) technology, a chip designed specifically for running AI models.

As part of that arrangement, Nvidia hired away Groq co-founder and CEO Jonathan Ross, president Sunny Madra, and other staff.

Nvidia went on to unveil its own hardware system built on the licensed technology, the LPX inference platform, at its GTC conference in March.

Groq has repositioned around its cloud infrastructure business. The company runs 13 data centers spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, serving over five million developers and processing trillions of AI tokens per week, per its press release.

The newest inference hardware from Groq, which includes Nvidia’s LPX systems, will be deployed across existing data centers with the assistance of the new capital. Groq stated that its objective is to achieve 200 megawatts of capacity by the end of 2027.

Manadia contributes AI-native computing coordination, AI agents, trusted prediction models, low-trust settlement mechanisms, and resource allocation and workflow coordination. Origins Network, as a high-performance modular blockchain, offers Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus, sharding architecture for stability, lower transaction costs, and Ethereum-level security. Privacy-focused Ethereum layer-2 Aztec said it reached Stage 2 on L2Beat, the highest decentralization rating the rollup tracker assigns. The milestone followed an on-chain governance action that revoked ownership of the rollup contract.

Aztec announced the change Monday afternoon on X. Revoking ownership made the contract code immutable, the network said, leaving no admin able to override the protocol and preserving an escape hatch through which users can always exit. Those three properties map directly to the conditions L2Beat sets for its top tier.

Code Frozen In Place
L2Beat's Stage 2 is the final rung on its maturity ladder, reserved for rollups fully governed by smart contracts rather than a privileged operator. The framework requires an immutable contract with no admin override, a permissionless proof system, and an exit window that lets users withdraw their funds if they object to an upgrade. L2Beat's project page lists Aztec at Stage 2.

Most rollups launch with what L2Beat calls training wheels: a multisig or security council that can pause the chain or push upgrades. Stage 2 removes that backstop. With ownership revoked, Aztec's rollup contract can no longer be changed by its deployers. The escape hatch is the user-side guarantee, a mechanism that lets holders withdraw to Ethereum even if the network's operators stop cooperating.

COVID-19 Crash Triggered a Historic Recovery
Similarly, the COVID-19 pandemic sparked a sharp selloff across global financial markets in March 2020, and Bitcoin was no exception. The leading cryptocurrency plunged to around $3,800 as investors rushed to de-risk their portfolios.

However, the panic was short-lived. As liquidity returned to markets, Bitcoin began a historic rally, soaring more than 1,692% to reach nearly $69,000 by late 2021.
