STRC is a perpetual preferred stock designed to trade near a $100 par value while paying a variable cash dividend, currently at an annualized rate of 11.5%.
Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy Inc. (MSTR) is proposing to update the dividend payment schedule for its STRC preferred stock, according to an announcement on Friday.

If approved by shareholders, Strategy’s Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC) would shift from paying dividends once a month to twice a month. The company states that the change could "lead to reduced reinvestment lag, enhanced liquidity, market efficiency, and increased price stability."

STRC is a perpetual preferred stock designed to trade near a $100 par value while paying a variable cash dividend, currently at an annualized rate of 11.5%. The dividend rate adjusts monthly in an effort to encourage trading close to par and minimize volatility.

Strategy has issued a suite of preferred stocks that rank above its common stock, MSTR. These instruments — including STRF (Strife), STRE (Stream), STRK (Strike), and STRD (Stride), and STRC (Stretch) — have helped the company raise billions of dollars to support its bitcoin acquisition strategy.

Unlike STRC, Strategy’s other preferred stocks have fixed dividend rates. Earlier this week, STRC recorded a $1.1 billion trading day, up nearly 50% from its previous high.

According to the statement, Strategy will hold an annual meeting on June 8 when the voting on the proposal Stretch update closes. The first record date under the new semi-monthly schedule, if approved, is June 30, with the first payment expected July 15.

Zanolini's remarks, delivered April 17 at the Sofitel Ambassador Seoul, cut to the heart of Ethereum's design philosophy.

Ripple prepares to release almost $1.5 billion of XRP in less than 2 weeks

Ripple is set to unlock 1 billion XRP from its escrow contracts on May 1, continuing a monthly release program established in 2017.

At the time, the company placed 55 billion XRP into cryptographically secured escrow on the XRP Ledger to improve transparency and predictability around supply. 

Under this mechanism, 1 billion XRP becomes available at the start of each month. The structured approach was designed to address concerns about Ripple’s large holdings and to avoid sudden market shocks.

Now, the May release is another routine step in a schedule expected to run through at least 2027, as the escrowed balance gradually declines. 

With XRP currently trading at $1.47, the upcoming unlock carries a notional value of about $1.47 billion, though the actual figure will vary with price movements.

While closely watched for potential supply impact, historical patterns show that most of the unlocked XRP does not enter circulation immediately. 

In this line, Ripple typically re-locks 60% to 80% of the tokens into new escrow contracts. In recent months, including March and April 2026, about 700 million XRP were re-escrowed, leaving roughly 200 to 300 million XRP for operational use such as partnerships, liquidity provision, and ecosystem development.

This re-locking trend has helped limit net additions to circulating supply, meaning monthly unlocks have generally had minimal immediate market impact.
