Argentina has taken a step in the right direction to democratize access to alternative financial platforms in the country.

President Javier Milei has issued an executive order declaring tax exemptions for virtual asset service providers (VASPs) registered in Argentina. The measure aims to increase the inclusion of crypto exchanges in the Argentine financial products market, leveling the playing field with traditional institutions.
The “debt and credit” tax, commonly known as “cheque” in Spanish, affected flows going in and out of crypto exchanges since November 2021, when former President Alberto Fernandez issued executive order 796/2021, which included traditional banks in these exemptions but explicitly excluded operations involving crypto assets.

Executive Order 475/2026 extends these exemptions to VASPs, stating that it was necessary to “adapt the regulations applicable to certain actors in light of technological advances and the resulting new regulatory framework, and, on the other hand, to equalize the conditions of entities that—while carrying out activities of a similar nature—are subject to different tax treatment.”

Now, these 1.2% savings will be extended to customers, as exchanges are poised to become more competitive, lowering deposit and withdrawal fees previously impacted by this surcharge.

Local industry figureheads celebrated the measure, stressing that it would benefit both consumers and the adoption of crypto assets in Argentina. Julian Colombo, Senior Director for South America at Bitso, highlighted that this would evolve into more crypto-based products being created.

EU to Impose €10K Cash Limit and Ban on Anonymous Crypto Accounts

The European Union is preparing one of its biggest anti-money laundering reforms in years. Starting in July 2027, the new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (EU) 2024/1624 will introduce stricter controls on cash payments, cryptocurrency transactions, and several high-risk industries.

The goal is to create a single rulebook across all EU member states and make it harder for criminals to move money through traditional finance or digital assets.

EU Introduces €10,000 Cash Payment Limit
One of the most significant changes is a bloc-wide limit on large cash transactions.

Under the new regulation, businesses will no longer be allowed to accept commercial cash payments above €10,000. While some EU countries already have their own cash restrictions, this creates a common rule across the entire bloc.

Member states can still introduce lower limits if they choose. The regulation also introduces additional checks for smaller transactions.

Businesses will be required to verify customer identities for cash payments of €3,000 or more.
Private transactions between individuals remain exempt.
Bank deposits and payments through regulated financial institutions are also not affected.
Meanwhile, EU regulators believe large cash transactions remain one of the easiest ways to hide illicit funds. Therefore, setting cash limits is an important part of the new framework.

Crypto Exchanges Face Tougher KYC Rules
The regulation also introduces major changes for crypto companies operating in Europe.

Crypto-Asset Service Providers (CASPs), including exchanges and other regulated crypto businesses, will need to perform enhanced Know Your Customer (KYC) checks on certain transactions.

Under the new rules, occasional or one-time crypto transactions worth €1,000 or more will trigger stricter identity verification requirements.

Morgan Stanley has reportedly updated proposed Ethereum and Solana ETF filings with a 0.14% sponsor fee.
The amended filings include staking language, with most staking rewards expected to remain inside the trusts for investors.
The filings are not approvals, but they add pressure to the growing altcoin ETF fee war.
Morgan Stanley’s proposed Ethereum and Solana exchange-traded trusts have become the latest focus of Wall Street’s crypto ETF fee war after amended filings disclosed a 0.14% annual sponsor fee and new staking details.
The updated S-1/A disclosures, reported from SEC filing materials, apply to proposed Ethereum and Solana products that have not yet received final approval. The filings reportedly show that the trusts would stake a portion of their underlying assets, with 95% of staking rewards retained inside the trust for investors and 5% paid to staking service providers and custodians.
That structure is important because fees and staking economics are quickly becoming two of the biggest competitive battlegrounds for altcoin ETFs. Bitcoin ETFs largely competed on cost, brand, liquidity, and custody. Ethereum and Solana products add another layer: what happens to staking rewards?
Why A 0.14% Fee Matters
A 0.14% annual sponsor fee would position Morgan Stanley’s proposed funds near the low end of the crypto ETF cost spectrum. In plain English, that means investors would pay less in annual fund expenses compared with higher-fee products, assuming the funds are approved and launched as described.
Low fees matter because ETF flows can be highly sensitive to cost, especially when products are otherwise similar.

Former Ethereum Contributor Warns of Funding Crisis Ahead
A former Ethereum Foundation contributor has warned that Ethereum’s development ecosystem could face a funding crunch within the next three to nine months. This raises concerns about the network’s ability to continue delivering major upgrades and long-term innovation.

Trent VanEpps, who worked at the Ethereum Foundation from 2021 to 2026, said Ethereum may be heading toward a “slow-burning funding crisis.” He explained that this will happen as key funding sources begin to dry up.

According to him, the issue goes beyond a temporary budget gap. It points to deeper structural challenges around how Ethereum funds and supports its core contributors.

Why Funding Is Becoming a Concern

VanEpps estimates that Ethereum’s core development ecosystem requires roughly $30 million per year to support client teams, researchers, coordinators, and protocol developers. He argued that this is a relatively small cost considering the scale of the network. Furthermore, the resources these teams maintain are significant.

However, two major changes are putting pressure on funding.

First, the Ethereum Foundation has been reducing its spending. In 2025, the Foundation introduced a treasury plan aimed at lowering annual spending from 15% to around 5% by 2030. This is meant to preserve its remaining funds.

Second, Ethereum’s Client Incentive Program (CIP), a four-year initiative that helped fund client teams through staking rewards, expired in April 2026. So far, no replacement program has been announced.

According to VanEpps, these changes could leave important development teams without stable funding in the coming months.
