Nigeria leads Ripple’s RLUSD bet: Are cross-border payments finally taking off?
In yet another step in its expansion, Ripple [XRP] announced a strategic partnership with Flutterwave, one of the biggest payment companies located in Nigeria. With the help of Ripple, Flutterwave is advancing its push into blockchain-based payments with this new partnership.

That said, the investment, which was a component of Flutterwave’s Series E round, valued the company at $3.2 billion. 

With this partnership, Ripple would also integrate its global payment network, the XRP Ledger (XRPL), and stablecoin RLUSD into Flutterwave’s infrastructure. All in all, this agreement marks a significant change in the way that funds could enter and exit Nigeria.

Although Flutterwave currently handles payments for millions of consumers and businesses throughout the continent, the majority of international transactions still go through conventional banking channels.

This includes multiple intermediaries, correspondent banks, currency conversions, and settlement times that take several days.

By strategically investing in and integrating technology, Ripple aims to replace a large portion of that complexity with stablecoin-based blockchain infrastructure.

Needless to say, the implications are wider for Africa, and especially for Nigeria. For context, the continent has long struggled with issues like high remittance costs. Along with restricted access to international banking systems and a lack of foreign exchange.

Strategy’s $10 billion STRC Bitcoin yield product sinks to yearly low as market demands higher payout

STRC was built to trade near $100, but its drop toward $92 is testing one of Michael Saylor’s key funding channels.Strategy’s (formerly MicroStrategy) flagship dividend-paying preferred stock is trading at its weakest level this year, pressuring one of the company’s most important tools for raising capital to buy Bitcoin.

The $10.5 billion variable-rate perpetual preferred stock, which trades under the ticker STRC, closed Tuesday at $91.79.

The settlement marked its third-lowest close since trading began in July 2025 and left the security well below the $100 level that the Michael Saylor-led firm has tried to keep it near.
Over the past year, STRC has expanded from $2.8 billion to $10.5 billion, adding $7.7 billion through at-the-market issuance. This made it one of the fastest-growing financial products in history.
So, the decline has turned STRC into a live test of investor appetite for Bitcoin-linked income products. Strategy built the instrument to offer a high dividend while giving the company another way to raise capital.
However, the market is now tacitly demanding a higher yield as Bitcoin pulls back, rival preferred stocks offer more attractive terms, and investors reassess the risks attached to Strategy’s expanding capital structure.

The new proposal changes how yield is paid.Right now, the system funds it by selling the rewards owed to root stakers and automatically swapping out subnet tokens for TAO. That means the network is constantly selling the very tokens its subnets are built on, which drives down their prices.

The proposal, called Root Reborn and submitted by developer 'unconst,' flips that.

Instead of selling everything, each validator would choose a set of subnets to support, much like picking holdings for a fund. The yield that would have been sold is reinvested into the chosen subnets, held as a basket that compounds over time, and staked back to the validator. Stakers still get their yield and can cash out to TAO whenever they want.

Such a mechanism stops the constant selling pressure and turns it into net buying that supports subnet prices
