Tom Lee has slowed Bitmine ETH purchases after the firm amassed over 5.2 million tokens and 4.3% of Ethereum's supply. Summary Bitmine bought 26,659 ETH last week, worth roughly $63 million, down from over 100,000 ETH in each of the prior three weekly periods. Tom Lee said the previous pace would have taken Bitmine to its 5% Ethereum supply target by mid-July, prompting the slowdown. Bitmine holds over 4.7 million ETH staked, generating an estimated $319 million in annualised staking rewards at current yields. Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) bought 26,659 ETH last week worth roughly $63 million, sharply down from the more than 100,000 ETH it had been acquiring each week for months. The purchase lifted total holdings to over 5.2 million ETH, worth approximately $12.1 billion, making Bitmine the world's largest Ethereum treasury company. Chairman Tom Lee said the firm had deliberately reduced its pace. "We have decided to slow down our pace of weekly accumulation from over 100,000 per week," he said. "Our previous pace of buys would have us reach 5% by mid-July."

Strategy CEO Suggests Potential Bitcoin Sales As BTC Price Reclaims $80,000


Bitcoin’s rise above the $80,000 level has sparked renewed positive sentiment across the crypto market, but remarks from Phong Le, Strategy’s CEO, have introduced a more nuanced shift in the company’s long-term Bitcoin approach.

The company’s CEO has confirmed that selective Bitcoin sales may be part of its capital management toolkit, despite being recognized as one of the strongest corporate Bitcoin holders.

Strategy’s previous policy, “never sell Bitcoin,” was significantly modified by these comments. The company is shifting towards a more flexible framework that prioritizes shareholder value, balance sheet efficiency, and long-term sustainability, rather than sticking to an ideological agenda.

According to the CEO, the primary driver behind the reconsideration of Bitcoin sales is the company’s expanding financial structure built around “digital credit” instruments. Strategy has raised approximately $8.5 billion over the past ten months through these mechanisms, including a perpetual preferred stock product known as “Stretch,” which carries an 11.5% monthly rate.

However, capital pressures have been a persistent issue for the company due to these obligations, leading to periodic reviews of dividend funding. Instead of relying on issuing equity or holding Bitcoin indefinitely, Strategy has decided to sell portions of its Bitcoin holdings when it deems it mathematically advantageous. 

“Ultimately, I believe in math over ideology, and at the point where selling Bitcoin versus selling equity to pay a dividend is better for our Bitcoin per share and for our common shareholders, we’ll do it,” he noted.

Strategy currently holds roughly $60 billion worth of Bitcoin, making it one of the largest corporate holders globally.

Crypto trader Eugene Ng Ah Sio has offered a noteworthy assessment of Solana ($SOL), the native token of the Solana ecosystem. According to Eugene, $SOL is one of the major crypto assets closest to breaking out of the horizontal consolidation process that has lasted for the past three months.

In a post on his personal channel, the analyst stated that $SOL has the “cleanest” technical outlook among major cryptocurrencies. Eugene noted that $SOL exhibits a stronger relative performance compared to Ethereum and Hyperliquid, and he believes it could be the first major asset to break its current three-month trading range.

According to the analyst, if the $SOL price strongly surpasses the $96 level, the next major resistance zone is at $120. If this scenario occurs, it is estimated that there could be an additional upside potential of approximately 25% from current levels.

Eugene also stated that he would continue to hold positions and had already allocated his portfolio in advance, aiming to profit from a potential upward breakout in the market if Bitcoin did not fall below the $80,000 level.

The broader crypto market ticked lower on Tuesday with bitcoin falling 1% since midnight UTC to $80,800 and ether ($ETH) losing 2% to $2,290.

U.S. equity futures also dropped after U.S. President Donald Trump said the ceasefire with Iran was "on massive life support," leading to a spike in Brent crude oil to $107 per barrel and a 0.4% rise in the U.S Dollar Index (DXY).

Bitcoin, however, remains above Bitmine (BMNR) Chairman Tom Lee's line in the sand at $76,000, which he said would confirm the end of a bull market if bitcoin can hold above that level at the end of the month.

The altcoin market is mixed with the majority of tokens underperforming the two largest cryptocurrencies, while a small corner of the market, including , curve (CRV) and toncoin (TON), bucked the bearish price action with upside moves between 5% and 10% in the past 24 hours.

Market-wide notional open interest (OI) in crypto futures rose to $125 billion even as volumes fell 6% to $174 million. The moves suggest reduced short-term speculation and gradual trader positioning.

ZEC's OI crashed over 10% to 1.90 million tokens from the 4.5-month high of 2.48 million tokens last week. At the same time, the token's price dropped to $550 from $642. The combination suggests unwinding of bullish bets rather than fresh capital flows deployed for shorts or bearish plays.

SUI, CORE, and HBAR were among the other major OI decliners. Open interest in Canton’s CC token, meanwhile, jumped more than 10%, with positive funding rates and a positive 24-hour OI-adjusted cumulative volume delta signaling stronger buyer dominance.

$ETH and XMR are other notable OI gainers, though their CVDs are negative, a sign that sellers are leading the price action with market orders rather than passive limit orders.
