Meanwhile, this sale was part of a broader exit strategy that began on March 8, during which he offloaded 8,771 ETH worth $19.14 million at an average price of $2,182.

At the same time, another large wallet (0x455…A433E) pivoted away from Ethereum, rotating capital into Bitcoin. The holder swapped 2,831 WETH for 90.46 WBTC in a transaction valued at $6.74 million.


This exchange was based on a conversion rate of $74,607 per Bitcoin. Consequently, the move signals a shift in near-term preference toward Bitcoin.

In contrast, whale investor nemorino.eth leaned further into Ethereum. The wallet accumulated 1,347.37 ETH at an average price of $2,226.54, committing approximately $3 million. Notably, this purchase reflects a bullish stance on Ethereum’s potential upside despite recent volatility.

Ether.fi commits $3 billion in ETH as 'validator liquidity' to ETHGas over three years
Ether.fi is committing $3 billion worth of ETH as “validator liquidity” to ETHGas over three years, sourced from its 2.8 million staked ETH under management.

ETHGas is a marketplace for Ethereum blockspace futures that allows blockspace to be bought and sold in advance for guaranteed execution.

Ether.fi, an Ethereum liquid restaking protocol, is committing $3 billion worth of ether (ETH) to ETHGas, a marketplace for Ethereum blockspace futures, over three years.

The ETH will be sourced from ether.fi’s more than 2.8 million ETH under management (worth nearly $6.5 billion at current prices) as "validator liquidity" into the ETHGas marketplace, ETHGas founder Kevin Lepsoe told The Block. Last December, ETHGas said it had received $800 million in liquidity commitments. At the time, Lepsoe had said that the figure was not a cash investment, but liquidity in the form of Ethereum blockspace supplied into the ETHGas marketplace in exchange for higher and more predictable yields. 

Selling blockspace commitments allows validators to "capture much more MEV [maximal extractable value], which results in significant boosts in yields to ETH validators/stakers,” Lepsoe said at the time, explaining the pull for validators to join ETHGas.

As for ether.fi, he said Tuesday that the protocol "earns incremental yield beyond standard staking rewards by dedicating their staked validators to supporting real-time blocks. Such blocks increase the volume of trades, especially among [centralized, decentralized, and high-frequency] traders, thus increasing the overall rewards that one would get as a validator."

Cypherpunk Jameson Lopp and five co-authors from the Bitcoin quantum security space have proposed freezing quantum-vulnerable coins on the Bitcoin network, including Satoshi’s $74 billion stash, to prevent them from being stolen once quantum computers become available.

The move is the second part of a three-stage proposal under BIP-361 called the “Post Quantum Migration and Legacy Signature Sunset,” which was posted as a draft to GitHub on Tuesday.

It addresses a major risk to Bitcoin — the potential use of quantum computers to steal roughly 1.7 million $BTC locked in early P2PK addresses, including Satoshi’s stash, which are not quantum-proof.

In the wrong hands, these coins could significantly undermine the value of the network.

Three phases to quantum security

BIP-361 builds on BIP-360, released in February, which proposed a soft fork for a new output type called pay-to-Merkle-root (P2MR). It works similarly to Bitcoin’s existing Taproot (P2TR) addresses but with the quantum-vulnerable key path removed.

While BIP-360 protects new coins going forward, it does not address the roughly 34% of the supply that remains vulnerable unless it is transferred to new addresses.

BIP-361 proposes that three years after activation, phase A of the proposal would prevent any new $BTC from being sent to old-style addresses, with all users on quantum-resistant address types.

The second phase (B) would invalidate old-style signatures and any Bitcoin still sitting in vulnerable addresses becomes effectively frozen five years after activation.

Phase C provides a potential rescue mechanism using zero-knowledge proofs, allowing people who missed the deadline but still have their seed phrase to recover frozen funds.
