On-chain data shows altcoins like XRP and Solana are observing a higher amount of investor loss relative to their market caps than Bitcoin.

XRP & Solana Are Observing A High Value On The Relative Unrealized Loss
In a new post on X, on-chain analytics firm Glassnode has talked about how the Relative Unrealized Loss compares between the various top coins in the cryptocurrency sector. The “Unrealized Loss” is an indicator that keeps track of the total amount of loss that’s held by investors as a whole on a given digital asset network.

The metric works by going through the transaction history of each coin on the blockchain to determine the last price at which it was involved in a move. If this previous transfer value was more than the current spot price for any token, then that particular token is considered to be held at an unrealized loss right now.

The exact amount of loss held by the coin is naturally equal to the difference between the two prices. The Relative Unrealized Loss, which is the version of the metric that’s of relevance here, sums up this difference for all loss tokens and finds what percentage of the market cap that it makes up for.

A counterpart metric called the Relative Unrealized Profit finds the same for the profit portion of the supply. That is, the tokens that have a cost basis lower than the current spot price. Now, here is the chart shared by Glassnode that shows the trend in the Relative Unrealized Loss for the four top cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana.

As is visible in the above graph, the Relative Unrealized Loss has witnessed a rise across the sector during the last few months. This increase is a natural consequence of the bearish price action that the various assets have seen in this window.

Governor Abigail Spanberger signed House Bill 798 into law on April 14, marking a shift in how the state handles abandoned crypto accounts. The measure will take effect on July 1, 2026, and updates Virginia’s unclaimed property statute to include digital assets.

Under the law, cryptocurrency held in customer accounts that show no activity for five years will be presumed abandoned and transferred to state custody. Unlike prior practices in many jurisdictions, the assets must be transferred “in-kind,” meaning the state takes possession of the actual tokens rather than converting them into cash upon receipt.

The change addresses a long-standing concern among crypto users and industry firms. In many cases, states have liquidated digital assets soon after taking custody, leaving owners who later reclaim funds with only the cash value at the time of sale. That approach exposed claimants to the risk of missing gains during market increases.

Virginia’s new statute aims to reduce that risk. It requires the state to hold digital assets for at least one year before any liquidation. During that period, owners who come forward can reclaim their property in its original form if it remains unsold, or receive either the sale proceeds or the market value at the time of the claim, whichever is greater.

Bitcoin Exchange Upbit Adds This Fan Token to Its Trading Alert List! Here Are the Details

Upbit, one of South Korea’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, announced that it has added the SPURS token to its “trading alert” list as part of its investor protection policies.

The exchange stated in its announcement that the decision was made in accordance with the audit processes implemented within the framework of the Digital Asset Exchanges Joint Advisory Board (DAXA).

According to the statement, reviews of the SPURS/BTC trading pair revealed that the token’s market capitalization and overall performance fell short of expectations, potentially posing risks to investors. Therefore, Upbit has temporarily placed the asset under monitoring to ensure user security.

The alert period will begin on April 16, 2026 at 17:30 and continue until July 16, 2026. During this time, the token’s status will be examined in detail, and a decision will be made on whether to continue trading support. The alert may be lifted, the period extended, or the token may be delisted entirely.

As part of the decision, deposit transactions for the SPURS token have also been temporarily suspended. Officials warned that deposits made after the specified date may not be reflected in user accounts and may be difficult to recover.

Upbit emphasized that it will continue to take steps to protect investors in line with its principles of regular auditing and transparency. Experts note that such warning decisions are generally aimed at increasing market discipline against high-risk assets.
