Amazon’s cloud unit said on Thursday it is working to restore normal temperature levels at its Northern Virginia data center, which has impacted trading on Coinbase and other websites.

“We are observing early signs of recovery. We continue to work towards restoring temperatures to normal levels and bring impacted racks back online in the affected Availability Zone (use1-az4) in the US-EAST-1 Region,” Amazon Web Services said in a status update on Friday at 5:11 am UTC.

The outage has notably impacted crypto exchange Coinbase, which said customers were experiencing “degraded performance.” FanDuel, an American gambling company, said it was also impacted.

The outage has led to some Coinbase customers being unable to transact on the web and mobile. Coinbase said its teams are working to restore functionality and that customer funds are safe.

“We will begin the process to re-enable trading on our markets shortly,” Coinbase said. “All markets would be placed in ‘Cancel Only’ mode before we move to re-enable trading.”

Deutsche Bank lifts Strategy stake to 785,000 shares despite value drop



Deutsche Bank AG, one of the world’s largest financial institutions, bought more Strategy Inc. stock (MSTR) during the first quarter of 2026. Those extra shares actually left the bank holding less money than before.

The German lender disclosed in a new SEC filing that it held 784,919 shares at the quarter’s end, up from 731,704 at the close of 2025. However, the holding’s value slipped to roughly $98 million from approximately $111 million as the Bitcoin-linked stock retreated over the same stretch.

Strategy stock ended March 31, 2026 at nearly $125, down from levels above $150 at the close of 2025, per Yahoo Finance. The stock moved modestly higher in Friday pre-market trading and remains up roughly 18% year to date.

Deutsche Bank AG’s holdings in Strategy shares give it indirect crypto exposure. The bank is also preparing to launch crypto custody services in 2026, partnering with Bitpanda and Taurus, while exploring stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and an Ethereum layer 2 initiative.

Cryptoquant, an on-chain and market data analytics firm, shared analysis on X on May 7, outlining the price levels bitcoin may need to reclaim before traders can confirm a market bottom. BTC traded near $80,874 while remaining below several realized price bands tied to underwater holder groups. The analysis focused on how those resistance levels could determine whether recent recovery attempts develop into a sustained reversal.

The chart in the analysis mapped Bitcoin UTXO age bands against realized price levels for different holder cohorts. It identified the 3-month to 6-month realized price near $88,879 as the first line of overhead supply above spot price. Another resistance wall appeared near $93,446 for the 12-month to 18-month cohort. The heaviest concentration came from the 6-month to 12-month band near $111,851, which remained roughly 29% above BTC spot price at the time of the study. The analysis stated

UTXO age bands track bitcoin supply based on how long coins have remained unmoved since their last transaction. The chart separated holder groups into time-based cohorts, allowing the study to identify where different groups of underwater investors may begin selling if BTC approaches their average acquisition prices.
Realized price reflects the average acquisition cost for holders within each age band. The analysis said a move above $88,880 would place the newest underwater cohort back into profit, potentially reducing immediate sell pressure from

Coinbase’s (COIN) weak first-quarter earnings report sparked another divide on Wall Street over whether the crypto platform is building a more durable business or remains tied to crypto’s boom-and-bust cycles.

Several analysts lowered forecasts after the company missed expectations on revenue and adjusted EBITDA as trading activity slowed across the crypto market. Still, a number of firms argued Coinbase’s expanding stablecoin and derivatives businesses — along with the possible passage of crypto legislation in Washington — could improve the company’s outlook later this year.

JPMorgan said the quarter reflected “a challenging environment” but added that Coinbase had “positioned the company well to operate in an increasingly digital world.”

The bank said pending U.S. crypto legislation “does set up for a better outlook into 2H26 and into 2027” and maintained an overweight rating on the stock.

The legislation in focus is the CLARITY Act, a proposed market structure bill that would establish rules for how crypto assets are regulated in the U.S. The bill aims to define which digital assets fall under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and which would be overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Coinbase and other crypto firms have argued clearer rules could encourage banks, asset managers and large companies to expand crypto activity.

Coinbase executives told analysts they expect a Senate Banking Committee markup this month, followed by a broader vote later in the summer.

Clear Street also pointed to regulation as a major catalyst.

“We see multiple catalysts ahead and remain constructive on the shares going into 2H26,” the firm wrote, even as it lowered its price target to $107 from $140 following weaker trading volume.

Onchain data showed transfers from cryptocurrency wallets known to be in the possession of the US government.

Accordingly, the US government deposited three altcoins, Uniswap ($UNI), Cronos ($CRO), and Chainlink ($LINK), which were seized, into Coinbase.

According to onchain analyst Onchain Lens, a US government-controlled wallet deposited 2,466 $UNI (worth $8,410), 152,925 $CRO (worth $10,689), and 1,589 $LINK (worth $15,703) into Coinbase Prime approximately six hours ago.

The assets were seized from Brian Krewson, who was serving a prison sentence for aiding money laundering related to drug offenses.

According to data provided by Arkham Intelligence, the US government wallet contains cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USDT, WBTC, ZEC, BNB, and DAI.
