In recent days the price of gold has been rising.

The fact is that behind this rebound there are massive purchases.

The ones buying gold in recent days have mainly been the whales on the financial markets.

The gold that is bought on financial markets is actually not physical gold, but derivative financial products that replicate the price performance of the commodity.

Taking as a reference for example the market for futures, where many institutional whales operate, there appear to have been large purchases starting on Tuesday.

In fact, on Monday, while the price was falling and hitting this week’s local low, there were mainly sales, also because last week there had been some purchases in particular around $4,550 per ounce.

To tell the truth, even on Tuesday, when the US markets reopened, there were still some small sales, but after about an hour the buying started.

At first they were actually very few, almost irrelevant, but as soon as the price climbed back above $4,670 they multiplied.

Between yesterday and the day before yesterday most of the purchases were made below $4,710 per ounce, and today, despite the rise to $4,740, for now there are still no massive sales to be seen.

JPMorgan said the quarter reflected “a challenging environment” but added that Coinbase had “positioned the company well to operate in an increasingly digital world.”

The bank said pending U.S. crypto legislation “does set up for a better outlook into 2H26 and into 2027” and maintained an overweight rating on the stock.

The legislation in focus is the CLARITY Act, a proposed market structure bill that would establish rules for how crypto assets are regulated in the U.S. The bill aims to define which digital assets fall under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and which would be overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Coinbase and other crypto firms have argued clearer rules could encourage banks, asset managers and large companies to expand crypto activity.

The Bitcoin ETF outflows came alongside the Nasdaq debut of the 21Shares Canton Network ETF (TCAN), the first US-listed ETF designed to offer direct exposure to Canton Coin, the native utility token of the Canton Network.

TCAN began trading on Nasdaq on Thursday and closed its first session at $24.66, slightly down from an initial price of $24.76, according to Nasdaq data. Canton Coin slipped 1.7% on the day, trading at $0.145 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko.
