US spot bitcoin ETFs draw $532 million as inflows extend to a third day, led by BlackRock and Fidelity U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs recorded over $532 million in net inflows on Monday, extending their positive streak to a third consecutive trading day.

BlackRock's IBIT and Fidelity's FBTC accounted for around $520 million of the total, with 10 of 13 funds posting zero flows and no outflows recorded. The U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund market maintained its upward momentum on Monday, marking a third consecutive session of positive flows for the asset class as the underlying cryptocurrency rose back above $80,000.

The funds attracted $532.2 million in net inflows on May 4 and have added a combined $1.18 billion in capital over the last three trading days, following inflows of $629.7 million on May 1 and $14.8 million on April 30, according to SoSoValue data.

Why Aave Has Become DeFi’s Systemically Important Protocol According to Messari Research
Aave has become so crucial to defi that it is now viewed as too important to fail, according to a Messari research analyst.

Eric Manoukian, a research analyst at Messari, likened the lending protocol’s position on Ethereum to that of major U.S. banks during the 2008 financial crisis. As such, Manoukian believes that its potential collapse would inflict greater damage on connected protocols than the cost of stepping in to support it would entail.

This view gained weight following the swift creation of DeFi United, described as the largest coordination effort among DAOs in DeFi history. In the days after the rsETH exploit, stablecoin issuers, liquid restaking providers, infrastructure projects, and Layer-2 networks contributed more than $300 million to ensure Aave depositors were made whole. 

The voluntary, opt-in nature of the rescue stood in contrast to the 2008 bailouts, which required government authority, hundreds of billions in public funds, and mandatory participation.

The latest report highlighted Aave’s systemic importance. Participants whose own products rely heavily on the protocol acted to protect the broader ecosystem, demonstrating DeFi’s ability to self-organize a backstop without external intervention. Messari’s latest report suggests Aave is likely to emerge from the episode stronger, with improved confidence in its resilience.

Despite a 45.1% drop in total value locked following the exploit, Aave maintains a commanding 49.4% market share among the six largest lending protocols. It still holds more deposits than Morpho and SparkLend combined. The AAVE token has declined 35.1% year-to-date and currently trades at 1.6 times price-to-fees.

Solana rolls out Pay.sh with Google Cloud to bring pay-per-use API payments to AI

The Solana Foundation has introduced Pay.sh, a new payment gateway built in collaboration with Google Cloud, aimed at enabling autonomous AI agents to access and pay for APIs using stablecoins on the Solana network.

The launch targets a growing friction point in the AI economy: while agents increasingly automate workflows, access to enterprise-grade APIs still requires manual onboarding, credentials, and billing relationships.

Pay.sh attempts to remove those barriers.

What is Pay.sh?

Pay.sh is a gateway that allows AI agents to discover APIs in one place, access them without creating accounts and pay per request using stablecoins.

Instead of traditional authentication systems, the model replaces credentials with payments, effectively making each transaction its own authorization.

How it works

The system is designed to let AI agents not just access services, but also handle payments seamlessly within the same workflow, removing the need for separate billing or authentication steps:

Users connect a Solana wallet to AI interfaces such as Gemini or Claude

Funds can be added via credit card or stablecoins

Agents can then browse APIs, view pricing in real time, and execute calls instantly

Under the hood, Pay.sh operates as an API proxy layer on Google Cloud infrastructure.

It routes requests to services like Gemini, BigQuery, and Cloud Run

Payments are processed via Solana and settled within seconds

The protocol enforces enterprise-grade controls such as rate limits and access permissions

In essence, the wallet becomes both identity and payment mechanism.
