Cardano (Cardano (ADA)) founder Charles Hoskinson is leading one of the most ambitious governance reviews in crypto history, analyzing over 11,000 DAO governance models alongside a decade of academic and industry research to redesign how the ecosystem makes decisions.
The focus of the review centers on three core questions:
who has decision-making authority, how priorities are set in roadmap planning, and how disputes over direction are resolved. The ultimate goal is to strengthen Cardano’s constitutional governance framework and potentially introduce new mechanisms through amendments or additional governance tools.
This initiative comes at a critical moment for Cardano’s on-chain governance system (CIP-1694), which already operates through Delegated Representatives (DReps), a Constitutional Committee, and Stake Pool Operators (SPOs). While the model is designed as a liquid democracy system, recent tensions have exposed growing friction in how capital allocation and long-term strategy are decided.
The immediate catalyst is a controversial treasury proposal tied to Input Output Global (IOG)’s 2026 research roadmap, covering areas such as quantum resistance, scaling architecture, and core protocol research. The proposal is currently facing strong opposition, with around 87% of DReps reportedly voting against it ahead of the June 8 deadline. Hoskinson has warned that if the proposal fails, IOG will not resubmit it, potentially leading to layoffs and reduced research activity.
At the heart of the debate is a deeper ideological split within the Cardano community:
one side supports continued academic-driven research and long-term infrastructure development, while the other pushes for more immediate, market-facing products such as bridges, rollups, and privacy solutions.

The global bank wrote in a note to clients that Nvidia stock is currently trading at a steep discount. According to UBS, accumulating NVDA at this price level would be beneficial to investors.
