Stellar ($XLM) has completed a golden cross on its short-term charts as it gains bullish momentum.

$XLM posted a golden cross on its four-hour chart, with the 50 MA rising above the 200 MA. This follows an impressive surge in the week, with Stellar notching about 80% gains. Coincidentally, this signal appears on the majority of short-term charts, including the 1-hour, 2-hour, and 3-hour (albeit formed at different times), confirming the current bullish momentum.

Stellar saw three straight days of sharp increases, reaching a high of $0.297 on Saturday before it slightly retreated.

The rise began on Wednesday after DTCC and the Stellar Development Foundation announced plans to enable the tokenization of DTC-custodied assets on the Stellar network. DTC-tokenized assets are expected to become available on the Stellar network in the first half of 2027. The move is a big one, as DTCC sits at the center of U.S. market infrastructure and oversees more than $114 trillion in assets.

Stellar surpassed the daily MA 50 and 200 at $0.164 and $0.19, which had limited its price since the year's start. It consequently reached a high of $0.297 on Saturday, last seen since November 2021.

$XLM currently trades at $0.253, up 19% in the last 24 hours as buying pressure increased.

Stellar open interest soars amid rising demand
Meanwhile, demand for Stellar derivatives continues to be on the rise, as seen in the perpetual futures Open Interest (OI) rising significantly. This increase suggests that retail traders are confident in $XLM's short- to medium-term outlook and are willing to open new positions.

Stellar's open interest is currently higher, up 21.78% in the last 24 hours to $378.99 million.

Investors pulled more than $4 billion from U.S. spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds in three weeks, dragging the token below the closely watched $73,000 mark.

Bitcoin ETF Outflows Mount
U.S. spot Bitcoin funds have shed more than $4.01 billion since May 7, the heaviest stretch of redemptions the products have seen this year.
Roughly $2.8 billion of that left over nine straight sessions, the longest losing run since the funds began trading in early 2024. The pace has rattled investors who had leaned on steady institutional demand to anchor the market.
A single-day exit of about $733 million on May 27 marked the largest daily withdrawal since late January, with BlackRock's IBIT losing roughly $528 million of it, its second-biggest one-day drop since launch.
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas flagged a 29.2 million-share IBIT block trade worth about $1.3 billion that the market absorbed with little visible price impact.
Bitcoin dropped below $73,000 within hours, down about 3.6% on the day before steadying near the support that buyers have leaned on.

Santiment Reads A Bottom

The firm frames the current fear as a setup for patient buyers rather than a reason to abandon the market.

Why Cardano’s fall from the top 10 signals a new crypto order

A notable shift is underway in the top 50 crypto rankings.

While some assets have slipped, others have climbed the market cap ladder, giving a clear picture of where liquidity may be flowing. This shift stands out because the market remains in a risk-off phase. During these periods, traders typically hunt for short-term rotation plays that can generate quick returns, while conviction around many large-cap assets remains relatively weak.

Nothing highlights this trend better than the post below.

Historically, risk-off phases have often seen capital flow into speculative assets such as memecoins. This time, however, the picture looks different. While Dogecoin remains the only memecoin in the top 20, the Hedera network recently climbed to 18th place as its market capitalization surged to around $4.6 billion.

Meanwhile, Stellar’s native asset, $XLM, recently broke into the top 10 after its market cap hit a record $10 billion, signaling a similar rotation of capital.

The rise of both $HBAR and $XLM in the rankings is unlikely to be a coincidence. Instead, it points to a broader shift in market preferences. Rather than chasing high-beta narratives, investors appear to be allocating capital towards networks with stronger fundamentals, growing utility, and consistent on-chain activity.

The memecoin sector reinforces this view too. After shedding nearly 15% of its market capitalization this year, the sector has struggled to attract the same level of liquidity seen in previous cycles. And yet, the evidence extends beyond memecoins, making this trend an important signal of where capital is actually flowing.

$BTC’s subsequent fall to $72,500 raised concerns that the price would slip back into the $60,000 to $70,000 range that $BTC was locked in during February through April, but Cointelegraph's reporting showed spot volumes kicking in to defend the $70,000 support.

Given the sizeable ETF selling, $BTC inflows to Coinbase and futures market liquidations, the spot CVD data above suggests these dip buyers are not dominant.

Open interest heatmap data, on the other hand, does show nearly $300 million of open interest concentrated in the yellow band representing $73,000 to $74,000, where traders appear to have opened new leveraged long positions.

While ETF outflows and redemptions sync with next-day $BTC inflows to Coinbase exchange, and the knock-on effect of this selling is occasional long liquidations in the futures market, Hyblock’s bid-ask ratio metric (set to 10% aggregate order-book depth) shows a modest bid-side dominant orderbook, reinforcing the view that traders view prices below $75,000 as discounted and are buying as a result.

The indicator ranges from -1 to +1, with values above zero indicating an increasing imbalance in the orderbook structure.

The current longs perps and spot buying activity have not been sustainably sufficient enough to reverse the downtrend, but it is helping to absorb the selling and put a floor (or support) beneath Bitcoin price.
