Abstract

X, formerly known as Twitter, is launching a new feature called ‘Starterpacks’ to help new users discover influential accounts across various interest areas, including Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. The curated lists are based on recent engagement metrics and include top accounts from sectors like crypto, news, politics, and technology. Product lead Nikita Bier announced that the platform has compiled over 1,000 pre-made packs, with plans to expand to 3,000. The initiative aims to improve user experience by enabling quicker discovery of specialized communities aligned with individual preferences, moving beyond mainstream content.

The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, is introducing a new feature called ‘Starterpacks,’ which is aimed at helping users, mainly newcomers, to discover influential accounts across interest areas, including Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

The curated lists spotlight prominent persons from their respective interests. With that, platform X is strengthening its crypto-based engagement and improving the new users’ experience on the platform.

The product lead of X and Solana ecosystem advisor Nikita Bier has released a video on X on January 22 and stated, “ We’ve compiled them into a new tool called Starterpacks: to help new users find the best accounts—big or small—for their interests.” Also, he said that this feature will be launched in a few weeks.

As the new feature Starterpacks covers a variety of fundamental subjects, such as bitcoin, news, politics, fashion, technology, business, and finance, as shown in a video that Bier posted and added many unique subcategories within these sectors, such as memecoin trading, economics professors, software developers, and so-called “unhinged” personalities.

X Curates Top Accounts Based on Recent Engagement

Bier said that the X platform has compiled the top accounts across different industries and countries based on traffic performance over the last few months, and they have been combined by X into this new feature.

The listed accounts for the cryptocurrency sector include Shibetoshi Nakamoto, CZ, Brian Armstrong, Vitalik, Justin Sun, and others. With that, Bier replied to the users that the feature has over 1,000 pre-made packs of accounts to follow in each interest category and, “we’re hoping to grow it to 3000 in the next few months.”

X Positions User Interests at the Core

Two days before the Starterpacks launch, Bier recollected his conversation with an X product manager, who stated that the true magic of X emerges when users step beyond the mainstream timeline dominated by news and politics and instead seek specialized interest communities that better match their unique interests.

With that, Bier said, “However, X is an interest-based graph — you can’t simply ‘sync your contacts’ and immediately get a relevant feed. Over the last six months, we’ve been iterating daily to make it quicker and easier for new accounts to discover their interests on X. The pieces are finally coming together — and it’s been amazing to watch.”

Cook's Curtain Call and Ternus Takes the Helm: The Disruption and Reboot of Apple's 4 Trillion Dollar Empire

Tim Cook has officially announced he will step down as CEO of Apple in September, transitioning to executive chairman after a 15-year tenure during which he grew the company’s market value from around $350 billion to nearly $4 trillion. He will be succeeded by John Ternus, a 50-year-old hardware engineering veteran who has been groomed for the role through increasing public visibility and internal responsibility. Ternus’s appointment signals a strategic shift toward hardware and engineering leadership, with Johny Srouji—head of Apple Silicon—taking on an expanded role as Chief Hardware Officer. This consolidation aims to strengthen Apple’s core technological capabilities. However, Cook’s departure highlights a significant unresolved issue: Apple’s delayed and fragmented approach to artificial intelligence. Despite early efforts, such as hiring John Giannandrea from Google in 2018, Apple’s AI initiatives—particularly around Siri—have struggled with internal restructuring and reliance on external partnerships, including with Google. The transition comes at a critical moment as Apple faces paradigm shifts with the rise of artificial general intelligence (ASI). The company’s closed ecosystem of hardware, software, and services—once a major advantage—now presents challenges in adapting to an AI-centric world where intelligence may matter more than the device itself. Ternus must quickly articulate a clear AI strategy, possibly starting at WWDC, to reassure markets and redefine Apple’s role in a new technological era. His task is not only to maintain Apple’s operational excellence but also to reinvigorate its capacity to innovate and lead in the age of AI.
