Last week, the US-listed cryptocurrency ETF market saw a comprehensive recovery—not only did Bitcoin and Ethereum products set annual records, but altcoin ETFs also attracted nearly $90 million in net inflows, clearly indicating a broadening scope for institutional capital allocation.
For the week ending August 21, XRP products led the altcoin sector with net inflows of $39.78 million, marking their best weekly performance since mid-May (approximately $60.50 million). Solana funds followed closely, with net inflows of $28.34 million, while Chainlink and Hyperliquid products saw inflows of $13.35 million and $3.89 million, respectively.
BTC/ETH ETFs Set Annual Record, Overall Market Warms Up
The spillover effect into the mainstream was equally significant. SoSoValue data shows that spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of $1.92 billion this week, and Ethereum products saw net inflows of $697 million, totaling $2.61 billion—the highest weekly figure since October 2025 and the strongest week of 2026 so far.
Although altcoin ETFs only captured a small fraction of these funds (approximately $90 million), their inflows showed a sustained growth trend as the rally spread beyond the two major cryptocurrencies, forming a stark contrast with the pattern seen over the past several months of "BTC/ETH rising alone, with alts struggling to follow."
XRP Leads with 50% Surge, SOL Breaks $100
XRP's price surged about 50% this week from below $1, peaking at $1.60 and retracting to $1.49 at the time of writing. The weekly inflow of $39.78 million marked its sixth consecutive week of net inflows, bringing the cumulative total during this period to about $72 million. Since their US launch, XRP products have accumulated total net inflows of $1.55 billion, with weekly trading volume also hitting a new all-time high of $272 million.
Solana funds achieved eight consecutive weeks of net inflows, their strongest weekly performance since mid-May. The eight-week cumulative inflow reached about $56.30 million, bringing the total net inflow to $1.19 billion. SOL's price rose about 24% this week, briefly breaking the $100 mark for the first time since February before retracting to around $93.
It is noteworthy that a similar surge in altcoin ETF inflows last occurred in the week ending May 15—when XRP funds saw inflows of about $60.50 million, while Bitcoin and Ethereum products experienced outflows. This time, the simultaneous surge in volume for BTC/ETH and altcoins reflects a more pronounced resonance effect in capital flows.
HYPE Gains Catalyst from Washington Policy, LINK Records Strongest Week Since Launch
Hyperliquid funds saw net inflows for a third consecutive week, with $3.89 million this week, bringing the three-week cumulative total to nearly $10 million. The cumulative net inflow approaches $287 million, and the product's asset size has risen above $350 million alongside the price increase of HYPE.
HYPE hit an all-time high of approximately $82 this week (currently at $79). On August 19, during a meeting at the White House with crypto industry executives, Trump specifically emphasized efforts to pave the way for Hyperliquid's legal operation in the US, providing a direct policy catalyst for HYPE's rise. During the meeting, Trump also urged Congress to advance cryptocurrency market structure legislation, further boosting overall market sentiment.
Chainlink funds saw inflows of $13.35 million this week, their strongest weekly performance since the inaugural week's approximately $48 million, bringing cumulative net inflows to $142 million. LINK rose about 22% this week, touching $12 for the first time since January before falling back to $11.40.
Demand in other sectors was moderate: Avalanche products saw inflows of about $1.30 million, Hedera funds about $848,000, and the Dogecoin ETF about $654,000.
Summary: Trend of Capital Diffusion Emerges, But Scale Remains Asymmetric
Overall, these capital flows convey a clear signal: after months of a configuration pattern where "only Bitcoin and Ethereum were favored," institutional interest in altcoins is showing a substantive recovery.
Of course, the approximately $90 million in altcoin ETF inflows is still minuscule compared to the $2.61 billion absorbed by Bitcoin/Ethereum ETFs. However, the longer duration of sustained inflows, the broader rise in token prices, and policy support for emerging assets like HYPE collectively signal that this rally is evolving from "BTC/ETH rising alone" to "broad participation"—marking the highest level of altcoin involvement in a capital rotation so far in 2026.
