MoonPay — a developer of payment solutions for crypto and traditional currencies, has introduced PayBox. This is a new type of payment wallet that allows AI assistants in Claude and ChatGPT to perform transactions. Users can manage digital assets and pay for online services directly within the chat interface.
Upon request to the AI, it is possible to perform actions such as: purchasing PYUSD, swapping tokens, transferring assets between blockchains, depositing funds into DeFi protocols, booking flight tickets, and more. Before an operation is executed, the user confirms it using an access key, after which the transaction will be processed.
PayBox supports Solana and EVM-based blockchains, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Hyperliquid, Tempo, and Robinhood Chain. In the future, MoonPay plans to add support for other networks. The platform allows users to store both crypto wallets and payment cards.
Fund security is ensured using MPC (Multi-Party Computation) technology and secure execution environments. Thanks to this, no single party — including MoonPay itself or the AI assistant — gains full access to the user's assets.
PayBox features two permission management modes. In the "Always Ask" mode, every operation requires manual confirmation. In the "Autonomous" mode, the AI can independently execute transactions within the limits set by the user. All permissions can be modified or completely revoked at any time.
PayBox is built on technology from Sodot — a developer of secure crypto wallet solutions, which MoonPay acquired earlier this year. According to the company, this infrastructure is already used to secure over $50 billion in digital assets across more than 10 million wallets.
