Руководитель отдела Европейского центрального банка (ЕЦБ) по развитию цифровому евро Эвелин Уитлокс (Evelien Witlox) призвала ускорить внедрение стейблкоина ЕЦБ, чтобы не остаться позади Китая и Великобритании.

Многие центральные банки достаточно быстро продвигаются в исследовании, тестировании и внедрении собственных цифровых валют (CBDC), посетовала чиновница. Уитлокс не радует отсутствие решения для проведения цифровых платежей, которое бы использовалось на всей территории Евросоюза — 13 из 20 стран еврозоны не имеют государственной системы расчетов, поэтому полагаются на международных платежных провайдеров Visa и Mastercard.

Чтобы решить проблему, в 2021 году ЕЦБ начал исследовать возможности цифрового евро. Однако внедрение CBDC замедляется из-за задержек в изменении законодательства. Перед внедрением государственного стейблкоина Европарламент и Евросовет должны завершить разработку правовой базы. Этот процесс длится почти 17 месяцев, что вызывает обеспокоенность отдела. Competitive advantage will belong to institutionalized players with access to low-cost energy, AI/HPC hosting operations, and stronger balance sheets. In essence, Bitcoin mining is transitioning from a "mining business" to an "infrastructure business." Future profitability and resilience will depend less on block rewards and more on diversified income sources like energy management and computational infrastructure services. For investors, the key question is not the halving itself, but which miners can successfully navigate this business model transformation.
