XRP price fell 2% to $2.04 as Bitcoin pulled back towards $90,000.


The XRP token jumped to $2.40 last week, helped by record ETF volumes.


Bulls need to defend $2 or risk falling to $1.80 or lower.


XRP saw a modest pullback, easing about 2% as it moved toward the key support level of $2.00.


The retreat comes as recent bullish momentum in the token shows signs of cooling. Bitcoin also slipped during the session, alongside a pullback in stock futures.


Despite the near-term price pressure, development activity at Ripple and signs of institutional demand remain intact.


XRP price revisits support near $2: why the downturn?


XRP fell about 2% over the past 24 hours, touching an intraday low of $2.04.


The move extends the pullback from recent highs near $2.40, with market participants flagging a potential new supply zone around the $2.10 level.


Trading activity remained elevated, with 24-hour volume at 2.94 billion, reflecting heightened participation amid broader market volatility.


The weakness in XRP came alongside a pullback in Bitcoin, which retreated from above $92,000 after investors reassessed risk following comments from Jerome Powell.


In a statement released on Sunday, Powell said the Federal Reserve had received grand jury subpoenas from the Department of Justice.


Stock futures declined after Powell characterised the subpoenas, linked to his Senate testimony, as an attack on the Fed’s independence.


Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all moved lower, as markets reacted to the prospect of political pressure on monetary policy.


Risk-averse sentiment spread across asset classes, including cryptocurrencies, while gold climbed to fresh record highs.


XRP has remained under pressure in this broader risk-off environment.

ITC Crypto创始人Benjamin Cowen周日强调了这一趋势，他分享了多个加密货币YouTube频道30天移动平均观看量的数据。

Cowen指出，此次下滑并非YouTube独有，也并非由孤立的算法变化所致，其他平台也出现了类似的参与度下降。

Coming as an additional factor is the recently announced unemployment data, wherein a slight drop balanced against job growth has fueled larger skepticism.

Chances for US Federal Reserve to Cut Rates

The US Federal Reserve last cut the interest rate by 0.25% in December 2025. That brought down rates between the target of 3.50% and 3.75%. Now, a poll by Polymarket has underlined that there is a 97.2% chance for the Fed to not cut lending rates in its Jan 27-28 meeting. Notably, the chances for no change to the rate were 81% a month ago.

There are slim chances for rate cuts, per Polymarket. Around 2.5% chances are that the rate will be slashed by 25 bps. The remaining 0.4% chances are in favor of a 50 bps reduction. Chances for a 50 bps rate cut have largely remained the same throughout the month. The possibility for a 25 bps cut has come down from 22.5%, as applicable on December 11, 2025.

Additional Factor Influencing Rate Cut Decision

Recently announced unemployment data is serving as an additional factor possibly influencing the Fed’s decision to cut rates. The unemployment rate has dipped to 4.4% in December 2025, down from 4.5% in November, according to data by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

But, it is balanced against job growth, which was reportedly 50,000 in December last year. This brings annual job growth to 584,000, the weakest since 2023. Optimistic numbers by the US economy is believed to have powered better chances for the US Fed to take a decision instead of leaving an uncertain thread hanging down.

去年，加密货币市场动荡尤其重创了模因币，导致2025年加密货币项目倒闭数量超过1160万个，创下单年最高纪录。

CoinGecko研究分析师Shaun Paul Lee周五发布的一份报告显示，2025年第四季度情况最为糟糕，GeckoTerminal平台上的770万个代币在此期间停止交易。

Lee表示，10月10日的市场崩盘是关键催化剂，当天超过190亿美元的加密货币杠杆被清算。

Lee 指出，Solana 模因币启动平台 pump.fun 于 2024 年 1 月的推出是推动新项目涌现的主要动力。
