European Commission to Publish Legislation on Digital Euro Next Week

June 21 (Huobi) - The European Commission will publish legislation on a digital euro on June 28, according to Commissioner Mairead McGuinness. The bill will cover topics such as privacy, distribution, and offline transactions. McGuinness confirmed that plans for the central bank digital currency have raised concerns about state snooping and the status of banknotes and coins. The European Central Bank will make a decision later this year on whether to proceed with the project after examining technical details for several years.
