China's Quingdao to Pilot Electricity- and Network-Free Digital Yuan Public Transport Payments Solution

June 20 (Huobi) - The Chinese city of Qingdao is set to pilot a digital yuan payment solution for public transport that does not require electricity or network coverage. The project will be launched at two stations on Qingdao's Metro Line 4 and is being organised by the Digital Currency Research Institute of the central People's Bank of China, along with the Qingdao Municipal Transportation Bureau and the Qingdao Metro Group.
