Ocelot plans to make major changes to Celo's development roadmap

Ocelot, the Celo Treasury organization, posted that it plans to make major changes to Celo's development roadmap, transforming Celo from an L1 public chain to an L2 Rollup on the modular blockchain network Celestia. Celo will use the Celestia network to solve validator and consensus problems, allowing the development team to focus more on improving EVM on Celo, making Celo an EVM-compatible and interoperable L2 network. In order to fulfill the above vision and prove the concept, Ocelot is planning on spinning up an Incentivized and Canary Testnet for Celo called Mezcal. The other main goal for the incentivized testnet is to move a replica of Celo to become an L2 Rollup on Celestia to fulfill this vision. Mezcal will be in 3 phases
