Jack Dorsey says he will give $1 mln per year to Signal app

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey has said he will donate $1 million a year to encrypted messaging app Signal to show his support for the development of an open internet. He said that social media should not be in the hands of a single entity or organisation, and that the social media space should be resilient to the influence of businesses and governments. Only the original authors can remove the content they produce. It also admitted that his previous mistakes had inadvertently given too much power to the internal structure of Twitter, rather than its users.
