On August 14, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated on August 13 that the U.S. military has sufficient resources to implement an 'indefinite' naval blockade against Iran and can rotate ships deployed in the region as needed. Austin told the media, 'The U.S. Navy is fully capable of maintaining such a blockade for as long as we want. We will continue to rotate deployed ships as we have done in the past.'
