Saylor's Strategy Goes Big Again With Massive $1B Bitcoin Buy Via STRC; $80K BTC Breakout In Sight?

Michael Saylor's Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy has added another $1 billion worth of Bitcoin to its holdings, with the latest purchase financed through its STRC preferred stock offering.

Strategy snatched up an additional 13,927 Bitcoin for roughly $1 billion at an average price of $71,902 per coin between April 6 and April 12, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission-marking its fourth-largest weekly purchase so far this year.

The latest purchase lifts the Tysons Corner, Virginia-based firm's total stash to 780,897 BTC, accumulated for roughly $59.02 billion at an average cost basis of $75,577. For context, that represents more than 3.7% of Bitcoin's capped 21 million supply, implying about $3.6 billion in unrealized losses at current price levels.

Strategy funded its latest purchases by selling over 10 million shares of its variable-rate preferred shares, STRC, last week, raising about $1 billion.

The central bank announced a slight increase in the appreciation rate of the Singapore dollar nominal effective exchange rate (S$NEER) policy band, a move widely anticipated by market analysts. The width of the band and its center level remain unchanged.MAS warned that Singapore's imported energy costs have already climbed and that prices across a broader range of goods and services are expected to rise in coming quarters. The bank revised its core and headline inflation forecasts for 2026 upward to 1.5%-2.5%, from a prior range of 1.0%-2.0%. Despite these pressures, Oxford Economics senior economist Sheana Yue described the situation as not yet a severe inflation scenario, though she cautioned that persistent cost pressures through food prices and wages could trigger additional policy tightening if secondary effects emerge faster than expected. The decision coincided with weaker-than-expected economic data. Singapore's GDP expanded 4.6% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, falling short of the 5.9% growth analysts had projected. On a seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter basis, the economy contracted 0.3% from the fourth quarter of 2025. The government's trade ministry, which had previously forecast full-year growth of 2% to 4%, is expected to release updated projections in May. To cushion the economic blow of the conflict, the Singapore government announced a support package of nearly S$1 billion, covering cash payouts and fuel vouchers for residents. A Repeating 4-Year Cycle That Ends The Same WayTechnical analysis of Bitcoin’s price action on the weekly candlestick timeframe chart shows an interesting observation. The analysis was done by a crypto analyst called Tony Research, who looked at one of the most consistently observed structures in Bitcoin’s history: the four-year cycle. Related Reading: Bitcoin Millionaires Are Disappearing By The Thousands, And The Figures Are ShockingThe analysis looked at the following durations from bottom to bottom across three distinct cycles. Cycle 1 (2015 to 2018) ran for 1,431 days; Cycle 2 (2019 to 2022) covered 1,421 days; and the current Cycle 3 (2023 to 2026) is tracking at approximately 1,390 days. The Gaussian Channel indicator on the weekly timeframe chart shows that each of these cycles has followed the same general structure.
