After intensive talks aimed at resolving one of the CLARITY Act’s thorniest provisions, stablecoin rewards, Republican senators emerged from a closed-door meeting Thursday with cautious optimism about the stalled crypto market-structure bill.

The gathering, which drew pro-crypto Senator Cynthia Lummis and other Republican members, produced comments suggesting negotiators may finally be finding a workable path forward on stablecoin yield and related digital-asset language.

‘Light Bulbs Switched On’
Reporting from Washington by Eleanor Terrett captured the tone in the room. Lummis told colleagues she experienced a change in perspective during the meeting, saying that “some major light bulbs were switched on” and that a path forward had emerged that she had not expected when she arrived.

Terrett later reported that Senate staff said, “We’re 99% of the way there on stablecoin yield, and negotiations on the digital asset portions of the bill are in a good place. Senator Lummis believes today’s meeting was very productive and positive.”

The statement added that lawmakers had also heard feedback from colleagues about the need to settle housing and community banking concerns, and that Lummis was actively working to address those issues.

Additional Changes To Crypto Bill?
Politico reported that Senate Banking Republicans have been considering whether to attach community bank deregulatory provisions to the crypto market structure bill as part of a trade: include the banking changes in the crypto bill in return for House acceptance of the Senate’s housing package in its current form.

The idea was reportedly discussed at Thursday’s meeting, though participants emphasized the talks remain fluid and no decisions have been finalized.

Politico’s coverage confirmed that supporters of the banking sector hope such an arrangement could persuade House Republicans to adopt the Senate housing bill without further alterations.

Datavault AI signs agreement to acquire NYIAX for blockchain trading

Datavault AI said Thursday it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire NYIAX, a move that gives the company control of blockchain-based exchange technology it says will underpin a broader push into institutional trading venues for data and other tokenized real-world assets.

The announcement converts an October 13, 2025 letter of intent into a formal merger agreement and deepens a relationship that already included licensing agreements and a technology alliance announced in March 2025.

The company said NYIAX’s infrastructure will be combined with Datavault AI’s Information Data Exchange and its DataScore, DataValue, and Data Vault AI tools to support tokenization, valuation, and trading across a range of digital and real-world assets.

Datavault AI framed the deal as a way to bring institutional market structure into categories that have historically relied on bilateral deals, especially advertising and proprietary data.

An 8 K filed on March 19 shows the transaction is structured as an all-stock merger. Datavault AI agreed to issue 78,947,368 common shares to NYIAX equity holders at closing, while certain unaccredited investors would receive cash tied to the stock’s five day VWAP instead.

Two NYIAX-nominated directors are also set to join Datavault AI’s board when the deal closes. Based on Datavault AI’s latest share price of about $0.76, the base stock consideration implies a value of roughly $60 million, though that figure is an inference and can move with the stock.

Datavault AI said the combined platform is expected to support several planned marketplaces, including its flagship Information Data Exchange, an International Elements Exchange for tokenized commodities and industrial assets, an American Political Exchange, and NYIAX’s advertising marketplace.

The Fed’s decision to hold interest rates came as expected.
But markets have further pared back expectations for cuts.
That’s bad news for risky assets like Bitcoin, which depend on liquidity.
The Federal Reserve’s hawkish tone zapped investors’ appetite for risky assets like Bitcoin, which saw its price tank by 5% to $70,000 following the US central bank’s Wednesday meeting.

And analysts say that traders shouldn’t expect the price to bounce back as long uncertainties remain over the economy caused by the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

“Looking ahead, Bitcoin is likely to trade in a more selective environment rather than a broad risk-on rally,” Illia Otychenko, lead analyst at crypto exchange CEX.IO, told DL News.

The bearish outlook comes as the Fed decided not to cut interest rates at its March meeting. Lower interest rates usually incentivise investors to bet on riskier assets.
