Zcash [ZEC] traded near $351, up about 7% on the day, according to TradingView. The daily chart showed ZEC holding the $320 support, a level defended since October 2025.

This marked the fourth retest of that zone.

Historically, the previous visit to this level preceded a rally of over 60% within one month. Even so, history alone did not guarantee a repeat.

Technical analysis and expert prediction
Adding to this bullish outlook, the Money Flow Index (MFI), which measures buying and selling pressure, is continuously rising.

According to the data, its value has recently moved up from the oversold zone to 37.76, suggesting that the upside move is backed by strong volume and signaling a bullish trend for the asset.

However, the price remains below the 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA), which suggests that the asset is still in a downtrend. That said, during the last strong rally in ZEC, the price also remained below the 50 EMA for a period.

Of course, optimism extended beyond charts.

A prominent crypto trader, Whale.Guru, suggested on X that ZEC could eventually surge toward $2,000. While the target appeared speculative, it reflected rising confidence around a potential trend reversal.

Such projections remained highly uncertain and depended on broader market conditions.

Bitcoin slips below $70,000 after erasing post-election gains during 'sell at any price' rout

Bitcoin has recovered from a low near $60,000 to now stand around $69,000, having effectively given back the gains it made after Donald Trump’s election in November 2024 this week.


The cryptocurrency’s drop was accompanied by a broader market sell-off that saw the CoinDesk 20 (CD20) index lose more than 17% of its value in a week.


While bitcoin dropped around 16.5% in the last 7-day period, other cryptocurrencies fared worse. Ether lost 22.4% of its value, BNB dropped 23.4%, and solana 25.2%. Shares of crypto-linked firms registered significant declines despite a Friday rebound, as the price of $BTC briefly retook $70,000.


The move followed a violent drop a day earlier that Wintermute described as the worst single-day drawdown in bitcoin since the FTX collapse.


The sell-off was driven by market-wide liquidations and what “felt like a ‘sell at any price’ working order,” said Jasper De Maere, desk strategist and OTC trader at Wintermute in an emailed statement.


De Maere said institutional desks reported “small but manageable liquidation,” which did not fully explain the size of the move, fueling debate over where the stress sat in the system.


De Maere added that the cascade came alongside a wider cross-asset deleveraging. The Nasdaq 100 tracker QQQ fell about 500 basis points over three sessions, while silver and gold dropped roughly 38% and 12% below their cycle highs, respectively.

The South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb says it will cover $9 million worth of losses with its own funds after a botched promotional event saw it hand out $40 billion worth of Bitcoin to its domestic customers on Friday.

But financial regulators are taking a dim view of the so-called fat finger error, and have launched an on-site inspection, South Korean newspaper Kookmin Ilbo reported. Their ire has been stoked by the fact that Bithumb was reportedly on the verge of implementing a system that would have prevented the gaffe — but instead chose to prioritise other matters.

The exchange’s promotions team had intended to send a total of $423 in Korean won to 249 customers who took part in a lucky draw-type giveaway. However, the team erroneously selected Bitcoin as the unit type when sending the rewards to this group of customers. As a result, each of the customers received thousands or millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin instead.

While Bithumb was able to freeze trading shortly after and convince the vast majority of the recipients to return the Bitcoin, a small number of customers liquidated their coins or traded them for other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum.

On Feb. 6, 2026, bitcoin finally halted a harrowing freefall that had effectively neutralized the “Trump Bump,” erasing nearly all gains made since the 2024 U.S. presidential election. After a brief dip below $60,000, the cryptocurrency staged a massive 15% recovery from its intraday lows, rallying past $71,000. This reversal restored bitcoin’s market capitalization to more than $1.4 trillion, breathing life back into a market that had been teetering on the edge of a structural bear cycle.


The rebound was as mechanical as it was emotional, driven by a “short squeeze” of significant proportions. Data reveals that more than $120 million in bitcoin short positions were wiped out in one hour as the price surged. For the second consecutive day, total leveraged liquidations across the crypto market exceeded $1 billion.

Mirroring the crypto market’s resilience, U.S. equity indices staged a fierce counterattack as bargain hunters swooped in following a bruising week. The Nasdaq composite surged more than 400 points, or 1.86%, to 22,954, led by a recovery in major tech names, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rocketed by 1,000 points, or 2%. The S&P 500 followed suit, gaining 1.65%, or 112 points. However, at the time of writing, the Nasdaq was still down 1.65% over five trading days.
