In the past 24 hours, $50,120 worth of short positions (7,942,947,702 $SHIB tokens) faced liquidations, as $SHIB targeted higher prices.

The short liquidations accounted for 84.7% of the total liquidated Shiba Inu positions, totaling $59,170, while longs accounted for just $9,050.

Shiba Inu has shown resilience in price over the past few days, as it is on course for its 7th daily green candle in the past 8 days.

Open Interest has also improved significantly from around $54.51 million on March 1 to $60.90 million today.

$SHIB's spot trading volume has surged by a staggering 112% in the past 24 hours to $22.23 million, with futures trading volume also increasing 109% to $148.3 million.

A consortium of 12 banks including BNP Paribas, ING and UniCredit is building a euro-backed stablecoin.

Four years ago, European banks were blocking crypto transactions. Today, they are offering Bitcoin and Ethereum directly inside their retail banking apps.

Data from BlockStories, published March 12, shows exactly where Europe’s 20 largest banks stand on crypto trading and custody. Santander, BPCE, BBVA and KBC are already live for retail and institutional clients. Deutsche Bank has announced custody. DZ Bank secured MiCA approval from Germany’s BaFin in January to roll out its meinKrypto platform across the cooperative banking network. Credit Agricole and Societe Generale have institutional custody in place.

Not all 20 are fully there yet. As analyst Richard Fetyko also noted, only 8 of the top 20 EU banks have live crypto services at scale, with most still in announcement or pilot mode. But the direction, he said, is crystal clear.

Memecoins outpace bitcoin, ether as 'barbell strategy' wins out

Even as bitcoin $BTC$73,608.52 rallies, non-serious tokens such as memecoins are emerging as the biggest winners.

Among the majors, bitcoin jumped more than 2% in 24 hours, and at one point early Monday briefly topped $74,300 for the first time since early February. Other tokens including $XRP ($XRP) and solana (SOL) gained over 4%, and ether ($ETH) rose 7%. The CoinDesk 20 Index added nearly 4%.

But the top-performing token among the top 100 over the past 24 hours is the memecoin PEPE, which has surged 19%. Its compatriots BONK and PENGU are up over 10%, and SHIB also outpaced ether's 7% rise. In fact, five of the day's best-performing coins are meme tokens.

This illustrates a trend observed since 2023-24. Observers have dubbed it the "barbell strategy:" holding a serious token like bitcoin, with growing institutional adoption, on one end, while speculating in smaller, non-serious coins such as memecoins on the other.

The behavior contrasts with the previous bull market, when $BTC rallies tended to lift more productive sectors of the market, such as DeFi and play-to-earn projects.

One possible reason for the absence of a so-called "meaningful alt season" is the flood of new altcoins, which has spread demand across thousands of projects. CoinMarketCap data show the total number of tokens has surpassed 37.8 million in just three years, highlighting the massive influx of new projects.

The Dogecoin ($DOGE) market is showing renewed strength as buyers push the memecoin above the psychologically important $0.10 level. It has also kept it close to the top of its 24-hour range between $0.0947 and $0.1024. The chart shows $DOGE trading around $0.1022, up 7.0% on the day.

Short-term performance supports this view, with Dogecoin also posting gains over the past week and two weeks. In simple terms, the chart now reflects a market that is no longer drifting aimlessly. Dogecoin is regaining momentum, and traders are watching to see whether this push above $0.10 develops into a stronger breakout.

Can Dogecoin Break Further Resistance?

Dogecoin’s weekly chart reveals a modest recovery taking shape, but the price is now moving into an important resistance area. $DOGE is trading near $0.1023, which keeps it above the lower Bollinger Band at $0.0741 and extends its rebound from the recent weakness.

That stabilization matters because it suggests sellers are no longer fully in control after the long slide. Even so, the next major test sits at the Bollinger Band basis near $0.1237, which often acts as a mean-reversion resistance zone during corrective rebounds.

Further, the Balance of Power indicator strengthens the short-term recovery case. With the reading at 0.88, buyers currently hold the upper hand. This shows that bulls are exerting stronger pressure than bears on this timeframe. The positive shift suggests momentum is improving as Dogecoin pushes toward weekly resistance.

Still, momentum alone is not enough to confirm a larger breakout. If $DOGE clears the $0.1237 area, the move will open the door to a stronger recovery toward the upper Bollinger Band near $0.1733.

As the downtrend emerges, there will be a drop in value, and the Bittensor price could immediately test the support at around $189.48. Assuming the bearish correction reinforces, the price may fall below the $184.21 mark.
