Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has warned that Bitcoin could eventually lose its position as the world’s largest cryptocurrency if it fails to adapt to quantum computing.

Speaking in an interview on The Starting Block, Hoskinson claimed that Bitcoin’s biggest weakness is its limited ability to implement major protocol upgrades.

U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $225.2 million in net outflows on July 23. The reversal ended a seven-session inflow streak as Bitcoin fell below $65,000. SoSoValue data showed investors shifted toward Ether funds during the same session.

The move mattered because ETF demand had supported Bitcoin’s rebound from July lows. Nearly $1 billion entered the funds during the previous seven sessions. Thursday’s reversal tested whether institutional demand could withstand pressure from equities and geopolitical risk.

Strategy has published a new indicator designed to measure its ability to absorb a sustained market decline. Rather than setting a floor price, the company presents an annual rate of return, allowing the assessment of the strength of its financial structure over several years. This new tool is based on its reserves, its debt, and its financial commitments. In this context, Bitcoin remains at the heart of the Strategy model, which seeks to better explain the conditions under which its financial coverage could remain sufficient despite a market that is durably oriented downward.

In brief

Strategy estimates that its model can withstand an annual decline of 11.34% in Bitcoin before reaching its critical threshold.

The company bases this calculation on its reserves of 843,775 BTC, its net debt, and its preferred shares.

A second threshold set at 10.79% corresponds to the yield needed to cover the effective cost of financing.

The Floor ARR does not trigger liquidation, forced sale of Bitcoin, or automatic restructuring.

According to Michael Saylor, this new indicator is part of creating a new analytical framework for Bitcoin-related capital markets.

Wall Street giant Morgan Stanley Bitcoin exchange-traded fund now has close to $400 million in assets under management - despite only launching in April.

The NYSE Arca-listed fund, which is the first by a bank, got off to a roaring start when it debuted, bringing in over $33 million in fresh cash on its first day.

Now, the fund has over $391 million in assets, demonstrating the popularity of the product. Many ETFs never reach $400 million in assets at all, let alone in one quarter.

Senior Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst Eric Balchunas revealed Friday that the product has been one of the most successful funds launched this year so far.

This week alone, investors have thrown $15.7 million in new cash at the product, according to Farside Investors data.

Morgan Stanley has been making big crypto moves for years now. Back in 2021, it started offering wealthy clients exposure to Bitcoin via funds such as those by Galaxy Digital.

And last year, the bank's CEO and Chairman, Ted Pick, said that the bank was working with regulators to see how they could offer crypto safely.

Back in April, the bank's head of digital assets, Amy Oldenburg said client education - not product design - is the central challenge facing Bitcoin adoption.
