Inside the EU's new country-level crypto ban - Here's why HTX and 13 platforms were targeted

The European Union (EU) has widened its sanctions targeting Russia by banning Justin Sun-owned $HTX and 13 other crypto platforms. The platforms span the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Panama, Georgia, the Marshall Islands, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus. They include BitPapa, A7 networks and

more.

According to the EU Council, these platforms have acted as conduits for blocked Russian entities to move funds and bypass existing sanctions. The transaction ban prohibits EU persons and firms from doing business with these crypto platforms.

In particular, Justin Sun-owned $HTX's appearance on the sanctioned list is very noteworthy. The exchange was banned by the U.K in May.

To counter possible freezing of funds, $HTX moved its reserves to an unknown third party and has been switching hot wallets, making it difficult to conduct sanction screening.

However, the EU's aggressive action to ban crypto services in a third country could exert more pressure and signal an evolution of crypto in sanction enforcement.

30-Year Expert: “Capital Flowing into Artificial Intelligence Will Shift to Bitcoin”Jordi Visser, a veteran of the macrofinance world, stated that the era of rapid 7-8 fold gains in the AI sector has stalled, and claimed that global capital and market dynamics will shift to Bitcoin and digital assets in the next major wave.

In a period where the growth rate of the AI rally has shifted gears due to capital expenditures (capex) and hardware bottlenecks, attention has once again turned to macroeconomic balances and the cryptocurrency market. Speaking on Anthony Pompliano’s show, Jordi Visser, a macro investor with over 30 years of experience and founder of AI Macro Nexus / AI22 Research, argued that the “easy money” era in AI is over and that it’s Bitcoin’s turn in capital rotation.

Jordi Visser pointed out that the aggressive valuations seen in AI infrastructure investments and large language models (LLMs) have reached saturation point. Stating that the high interest rate environment and physical hardware limitations such as chip and memory shortages are putting pressure on company margins, Visser made the following assessment:

“The ‘easy money’ trading model, where massive returns of 7-8 times the initial investment were achieved through AI, has come to an end. This doesn’t mean AI is dead; however, we’ve now entered a period of grueling and rational growth, typically around 30% annually. Capital is now seeking new avenues in terms of risk-return balance.”

However, the BRCA text itself remained unchanged in the bill version released on Wednesday, leaving uncertainty about the specific revisions referenced during the negotiations.According to journalist Eleanor Terrett, the National Fraternal Order of Police said it reviewed clarifying language included in revised Section 10604, which amends the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act. According to the letter, the organization concluded that the provision does not restrict investigators or prosecutors from pursuing unlawful conduct involving digital assets.The FOP said the clarification directly addressed concerns raised during earlier discussions over the legislation. As a result, it formally endorsed the version of the CLARITY Act and expressed support for its passage.

Bitcoin's July recovery was real. $BTC printed $66,990 on 21 July, its highest price since mid-June, putting it up 15.9% from the $57,803 cycle low recorded on 1 July. That move ran straight into the resistance band traders had flagged for weeks.

Analysts noted that Bitcoin had climbed to its highest level in more than a month but that the rally never accelerated, arguing a decisive break above the previous $67,000 high would be needed to open the path toward $73,000.
